Now press the blue button (powerscan) (the colour options on the remote and on screen differ for the EVMAX this will be the yellow button) this will open another smaller window with the heading "full power scan". If you are on the T/W network press the OK button, if however you are on the NT! network you will have to highlight within the window the first entry for symbol rate, usually (6.952) and edit this to (6.887)then press OK. The box will now scan all frequencies and find all active transponders for your area, Then it will scan them all for channels. This can be a long process, So go and have a cuppa and a read of your newspaper.

Could that be the issue?

That sounds about right.
You have to organise your favourites to put them in a useful order.

Yes. Been away for a few days, and so only got hold of it tonight. Just finished flashing it and installing the firmware.
All good. Now just have to sort the channels out into a sensible order in the favourites! The PVR thing seems to work well. Told Sky to cancel my contract last night, so that will stop in 30 days.
How's yours been?

lol, to be honest, I've been watching Sky mostly! I did phone to cancel the sports, but they offered me £15pm off for 3 months so in effect it's only £3 for the month so I said yes go on then. I was only going to reduce to the basic package where you can get Sky One, we watch that a bit for Prison Break, Lost etc, wouldn't wan to be with out really. I know I can download them but I don't want to watch them on the pc and burning them to dvd is a chore.
That said, the box is working great, I've recorded a couple of bits successfully too. I just need to get in to the habit of watching it more and set a decent set of favourites up.

Does that £15pm for 3 months tie you in to a longer contract (say for 12 months) at the standard rate?
They asked me why I was cancelling, and I told them I'd just got a new job on an oil rig. That sort of put an end to them trying to offer me something at a discount

Did my favourites last night. It only takes 20 minutes or so to get them done, and then you can tweak them after that.

If you have to give them a month's notice make sure you take that into account.

any chance you can give me a quick guide on setting them up, somehow they got sorted into movies, sports, popular etc but i never bothered to mess with them after that and i hate reading instructions.
Would like to just pull all the things i normally watch into one list called ie 'my stuff' and have the rest sorted as it is now.
Any ideas how i take any of the channels given non descript names like 'bics1' and assign it to my sports section or movies section after renaming it? Found a couple of channels not duplicates or ascribed their own names e.g. sky sports extra.
I love it on the whole just wish i could be arsed to sort the final tweeks to make it spot on.
The only thing that really annoys me is only being able to watch a few channels when recording.

You just go into the menu and the favourite manager. You then go through each channel, one by one and stick it into a favourite group.
You can also change the names of the favourite groups - so you can have a 'His' and a 'Hers' group if you wanted.
You can also edit the names of any of the channels.

Didn't know you could change the names, can you create new ones too or just rename?
Also, my signal only comes through at 80% ish, would a booster have much effect? What does yours come in at?
