RANGE TO PUSH
«
on:
October 11, 2008, 05:07:00 PM »
MTT, Blinds 1000/2000 Ante 300 11 players left, bubble time
AV stack 52,000.
My stack 28,000, my table 5 handed, i am on button, utg and seat 2 pass.
SB 68,000 BB 81,000.
What is the minimum holding you would push with.
Many thanks

I doont think were that desperate that we have to push ANY 2 cards (we have 14 BB's, but there is ante's) to win 4,500 to add to 28,000. Any pair, any A, K5s, K7+, Q7s, Q9+, most suited connectors for me.
I don't push with 92/94/72 etc etc unless the blinds are pretty tight players...

no, we're not desperate which is why we can push atc here as we have the fe to do it. if we were desperate then I'd tighten up my pushing range a lot as the blinds could afford to call a lot lighter.
bubble chip aquisition ftw

so you're saying that if the situation is correct then you might push with them? therefore they're in your range surely
while my pushing range here is atc that doesn't mean I'm pushing 100% of the time, it's situation dependent, one of the variables being how loose/tight the blinds are

Umm, I disagree with shoving 72, but i take your point above...

Maybe I worded it badly, but basically we're saying the same thing...

Depends how loose opponent is, sometimes call only with TT+, AK if player is tight.
If the player is looser, go as wide as 55+, A8s+, AT+, KQs
If he's looser still, widen the range again. etc

Your M is almost 5. I'd be pushing any 2 at this point, especially on the bubble. If you want to fold and wait another orbit that's fine, but you'll have less fold equity, and at this point it's really obvious you're pushing any 2, making it easier for the blinds to call.
But it does depend on the blinds. If there's a super loose player in the big blind i'm going to want something half decent to push with.

Against Gatso I spite call with atc and suck out.
fwiw my shoving range here is anything vaguely connected that has a chance of catching up if I get caught out.
