well done liverpool a thoroughly deserved victory imo.

chelsea lacked ideas and the desire and talent to get back into the game but that said liverpool defended well 2nd half.

imo the signs were there against roma that they were struggling to break down well organised teams without a number of key players missing, they tore middlesboro apart but they were far from organised.
chelsea miss drogba in these types of games, anelka is great against weak opposition but goes missing in big games more often than not. it must be a french thing as mouloda who has been in great form was non existant also.
deco still is not fit from his injury and personally i would have started with him on the bench and played belletti in the middle of the park which would of released lampard more.
chelsea missed cole, ballack, essien and drogba but credit to liverpool who played well without their biggest goal threat torres.

the one plus for chelsea imo was the way the young argentinian di santo played, he came on and imediately showed desire and caused liverpool a threat aerially and looks one for the future if we are to continue with the full backs getting forward and getting crosses in.

a long way to go before the end of the season, but liverpool have shown for the first time in years that they have the potential and the talent to challenge for the premiership title.

Great post Paul,

I really like big Phil as the Chelsea manager, ok they didnt play there best at the weekend but who could without the players Paul mentioned. For the first time in years im actually enjoying watching Chelsea play. More attacking, aggressive football and no excuses and complaints after the game.

This could well be the most open season in years.

Keep an eye on villa

Cant see Liverpool keeping up the performances tbh ... It will be United and Chelsea HU for the title again, Liverpool just dont have the depth of quality in their squad to be challenging for a full season imo.

i think you would be suprised Kev, Liverpools squad is as deep or deeper than Utds and Chelseas.

Reina
arebeloa
Skertal
Carra
Dossena
Kuyt
Gerrard
Mascherano
Reira
Keane
Torres

Cavalieri
Degen
Agger
Hyypia
Aurelio
Benayoun
Alonso
Lucas
Pennant
Babel
Ngog

Not a bad 2nd XI

I think we all saw yesterday Chelseas squad is nowhere near as deep as it used to be

When was the last time Chelsea brought on 2 teenagers when chasing a game

Ok they have injuries but in years gone by they still would of had big name players to bring on

Sulking apart, talking performances only, you'd prefer Keane to Berbatov?

I enjoyed the game, Liverpool deserved it in the end. I like big Phil Chelsea have a full team out injured and he does not complain or whine.

+1

A class act.

Agree. The difference in th squad players is the quality.

Carrick, Hargreaves, Anderson, Nani, Tevez. Very good players.

Malouda, Deco, Anelka, Kalou, Mikel. Very good players.

BennyandJoon, Dossena, Degen, Lucas, Ngog, Pennant. Decent players but not too many match winners capable of stepping in for weeks on end.

We need to be extremely lucky with injuries to win the title but this season we are getting the rub of the green so far.
