I live at home with my parents, who will be charging me £200 a month rent when I start my new jobs. With other things to pay out like travel and food etc I will have about £400 left to myself to spend on what I like. Maybe more than that. This will be off £13,500 pa so I dont know how much that equates to an hour (9-5). Cant be arsed to get the calculator out. But considering I no longer play poker, and my main interest is chess it doesnt cost a lot of money so i can save it, so its a good standard of living for me living at home. Living on my own would be different and I imagine £13.5k would be sub standard living. A good annual wage for someone living on there own would probably be at least £18-19k. Although it could be more now credit crunch is hitting us all.

I reckon i'm on 50 a day net. So 100 would be lovely at the moment but like Fugly says it depends on your situation. Renting with 2 others and i'm ok with 50 while i'm still doing my training but i couldn't live on my own.

i work at a bank and dislike my job, i earn good money but that doenst mean i have a great standard of living, i hate going to work everyday and no mater what i earn it doesnt make up for the 9 - 5 heartache i go through. I have a decent career infront of me, a career some of my friends would love to have access to but whats the point if you hate it?
£200 per day would be a good day in my eyes.

In my line of work it is difficult to give an hourly rate. I have to keep my skills honed by keeping up with changes and that happens on an almost daily basis. When I do my work and people think I'm done for the day, but then I have to get stuck into reports, billing, chasing payments and such. Though I only work as a part time freelancer at the moment I seem to put in a lot of hours. I would be happy if I were to average £250-£300 but that's not happening at the moment.

Maybe I keep the wrong company but I know hardly anyone who brings in over £100 a day on average, and no one who earns over £250 a day. Personally I earn around £70 I think, after deductions, but I have a job I enjoy and not once in nearly 4 years have I dreaded going in. I could probs earn a couple of K a year more if i really wanted to push myself, but money is not the be all and end all of everything IMO

The mean average wage I think is about £100 a day, but everybody knows that this is skewed by some very high earners and by London wages.
From what I've seen before I think in terms of what you're most likely to find people earning around the country, £60-£70 p/w is what most people actually earn

This is a very good point.
In my job I have this much responsibility:

But I love my job so the money isn't so important.

Oddly enough, that's the excuse I use for being on here all day.

A good wage is relative to loads of things, some outlined in this thread.
How much do you need? what are you willing to do for it? do you want a job you enjoy? how much responsibility do you want?
I gave up my career at PWC along time ago because earning X amount a day don't mean shit unless your happy.

I am happy because I have a job I enjoy, obviously I would love to earn more as it would make my goal acheivable more quickly, but I have to be realistic and know my current position is more than I could have hoped for,
That said if anybody has a job in the Philippines I would work for £5 a day without question.
