I agree.  I normally congratulate people on their landmark posts, but this is just rubbish.

What does blonde mean to me ? ... Well, I suppose it can be summed up like this "The Good, The bad & The ugly"

So in reverse order ...

The Ugly

Yes yes ... I know... ME !!

But apart from that ... I seriously get depressed sometimes when people whom I would class as friends fall out with me because of actions that have been taken by a collective team, I suppose they have to vent their frustration and anger at someone, but it hurts to be attacked and slaughtered in blogs and the like by people whom i have shared drinks and meals with, I guess my friendship wasnt worth that much in their eyes, and I know I should just shrug it off, but it hurts and its difficult for me to just forget it ... Also you wouldn't believe some of the lies and garbage that gets spread around, some of it is vicious and plain malicious, I don't know if its jealousy or just pure hatred, but I have had more than my fair share of it, from casting doubt on my integrity with regard to my job as card room manager, to personal threats etc etc ... WTF, I mean, If i am just crap at what I do, say so ... don't ever make stuff up in an attempt to question my integrity !! are people really that sad that they take the internet so seriously as to resort to that ... I just wish people would remember that all gossip and other such garbage always has a way of finding its way to the target ... however hard you try to make sure that the object of your lies and bile never finds out that you were behind it, they will get to hear about it eventually. I DID !


The Bad

Inevitably, when you get a large membership from all walks of life and differing political/religious and moral backgrounds, conflict is I suppose inevitable and from time to time this does spill over onto the forum. Nothing hurts more than to see bad blood spilling onto blonde, the mods team work hard and keep so much off the forum and work hard behind the scenes to make blonde the friendly place it is, but believe me, it really is no fun when you are having to fight fires and deal with these issues and it does take its toll on the mods ... it gets quite tense in the mods room sometimes believe it or not. The forum mood seems to go in waves, and its nice that we are in the middle of the peaceful season at the moment and we have a cracking atmosphere on blonde that makes logging in a pleasure ... lets hope that continues for a goodly while.


The Good

blonde is my second home, I have been sat on my fat arse for almost a solid year with it on my computer ... yes a year of actually being sat in front of a monitor !! ,     March 27, 2005, 04:17:08 PM was when I joined, and I have been around to see it grow and grow ... I have made some special friends here, people who care, who are there for you when you need a lift, there for you when you need an ear, and there for you through good times and bad ... Thats special and should never be taken for granted.

I also have to thank blonde for my relationship with the lovely Jane (Ginger) for if it wasn't for blonde we would have probably never met ... Jane probably hates blonde for that though   but I will always be thanking my lucky stars our paths crossed. blonde is also responsible for a few other relationships too ... the power of blonde !!

blonde has made me laugh lots, cry occasionally, and lose sleep at times, and I love the place dearly... where else could you get expert advice on poker strategy, great debate on sensitive issues without the often inevitable flaming that occurs in so many other forums .. and a thread devoted to exhibiting and critiquing various fry-ups ... the sheer variety on blonde is something that just happens and blonde is a better place for it.

Many many friendships have formed solely because of blonde forum, and so many members meet up for social get togethers non poker related, that's a testament to the spirit and ethos of the place.

The good outweighs the Bad and the Ugly a hundred times over, and if asked the question "Will you sit on your fat arse for another year behind a monitor and make another 20,000 posts" ? ... the answer will be  " YES, you can bet your life on it !!"

Thankyou blonde, I owe you big time, you have given me far more than i could ever give back.

Great Post Kev, congrats.

I'm afraid most of the front-line Mods come in for their share of Online Abuse - but never to our faces! It's typical of the Internet I suppose, peeps get brave behind a keyboard, but they lose their tongue when face to face.

The personal attacks on you - as a Mod - make me cringe at times, but you hold up well.

But the good far outweighs the bad - all those friendships we've made via blonde! -  & as you say, it's "peace" right now, & long may it last.

Your contribution as a Mod has been massive, & I'm eternally grateful.

I can tell everyone that it gets seriously "hot" in the Mods Room at time, & Kev is never, err, shy at airing his views, & probably contributes more to the Mods Room than anyone, except Tighty who is equally industrious.  All in the name of a decent Forum.
