Been playing for a few hours and managed to build stack up to £190, have a pretty aggressive image and been winning a lot of small pots uncontested. Villain is an older guy who is sitting on around £120, seems to be a regular in the game, very tight and made a few comments to me about how I'm playing so aggressive and that I'm going to "go broke playing like an idiot"

Playing 7 handed Hero Cutoff: I raise to £3.50

Villain Calls in BB

Flop comes  two hearts

Villain checks I bet £6 he c/r me to £25

How would you guys play the following hand against this guy? I'm unsure about how I played it etc, will reveal after hearing few replies,

Depends whether I think he would raise me with a flush draw or not because if he does then we could be dead to three non heart 8's here. Any 10xhh hand has us in sick bad shape.

Having said that, from your brief description of him I'm guessing he's raising you with a made hand on the turn rather than a draw (though that still doesnt help us if he has A/K10 of hearts etc).

My action would be to call here and check/fold the turn if we dont improve.

well if it comes an off suit 8 it's happy days but if this "very tight" dude is betting the turn and river hard with any other cards i think you're prob losing and if he hasn't got a bigger flush draw are you gonna get paid if you hit?

that's my explaination, what's yours?

turn is a heart he bets big you could easily be beat
turn is a 7 or a 9 he bets big you prob beat
turn is any other card he bets big you def beat
your turn

8?

if it drops a heart and i'm beat then GG

calling and reassing the turn isnt that bad here because of how agg the OP had been widens up the villans range rerasing here so theres a lot of scare cards on the turn that slow down the action if we dont hit.

In my experiance of live poker someone that says "you're gonna go broke playing like an idiot" is getting a bit pissed off with not finding anything to turn over against the table agressor and will eventually make a mistake or over play a mrginal hand.

he's got a huge range for flatting here so why not? i think the implied odds are there against grandad whos increasingly eager to bust this guy thats: "playing like an idiot"

The big re-raise definitely puts a flush draw among his potential range, which is scary.

I don't like a shove here cos you could be dead to 3 outs. I don't mind a fold but I think perhaps call here and reevaluate on the turn. Watch carefully for his reaction whatever card hits, cos it could help define his hand.

Call and hit the non-heart 8 on the turn, get him all-in with his and then watch him explode and then go on tilt as he doesn't improve, calls you an idiot and reloads...

Shove, I dont think an older live player is going to be raising a flush draw all that often here, so I think you are very live. As Bolt says, he is most likely reraising you because he is pissed off and probably is getting attached some weak one pair hand, maybe ace-ten, king-ten, 99 (anything better I think he reraises you pre) or possibly fuck all. He could have a set here but generally you are live and I think you can force a fold often enough as well as hit often enough to merit shoving (Plus, and im pigeon holing live players again here, he might fold a big draw incorrectly because hes a shit live player)

Id also want to shove here because if you stack him when he calls, he will go on monkey tilt and give you even more money.

Hi, there was no way I was going to lay this down mostly for the reasons bolt and alex commented on, imo I want the guy to have a big hand here and (top top or a set) as you know that you are going to stack him if you hit.  I flatted and was planning on laying it down on the turn if i missed, obv the hit on the turn and I was trying not to piss myself laughing as I was a bit boozed at the time and getting seriously irritated with the guy.

I set him all in after he bet £50 and he insta called with  and never filled up on the river, even though I think his pants did when he seen the beautiful  !!

Thanks for the comments interesting to see everyones views etc on how they would/ would have played the hand etc eventhough it is farly 'standard',
