Brought into the $440 at the CPC last week and we are down to 11/97 with top 9 getting paid. I have about 7-8 bb's so im redic short.
Im in bb and it folds round to my mate in sb who says sry Simon but i have to raise. Im like lol, np m8 i might have to call. He raises but not enough to raise me allin but enough where he would have to commit to calling an allin from me with any two. With this in mind i stupidly look down at Kc10c and figure thats more than enough and annonce call and flip my cards face up, doh. Floor manager says i will have to sit out 6 hands away from table as a penalty. I ask if i can move the rest of my chips allin dark because im so committed and he says thats fine. I move my last few grand in and the board comes A93 with 2 clubs. My mate announces call and flips 98o for the best hand but we are obv about 50/50 at this point. I turn the flush and cripple my mate who busts next hand.
Is this a fair ruling as a few people i spoke to seemed to think it was very harsh.
FWIW i made the money but busted 9th with KK v 1010, 10 on the river, erfgtyumnjbthgdvrfdc FML!!!

Fair ruling for showing your hand with chips in play, but surely your time away from table starts at the END of the current hand and you should be able to play the hand in question?

My mate may have been on button actually and i was in BB with no sb as there was a bust out before the hand i think. |

You dont know the ins and outs though bolt. Maybe Amatay invited his 'mate' round previously for a cooked breakfast and his mate was like WTF insta-lifetilt and Amatay deserved his chips being stolen. Ul & wd on 9th though fishay. |

If he's going to give you a penalty for exposing your hand then surely you can't make any more aggressive action in the hand - you can call bets but not make them.
The correct ruling is of course to disqualify Amatay from the competition and throw him over the side of the boat for his Rate my Fry-up entry.

TDA rules allow a player who has exposed his hand to continue to make aggressive action in the hand. I believe its different under different rules though. The GUKPT doesn't allow aggressive action from a player who has exposed his cards, as IIRC there was a hand at Walsall between Dharmider Buttar and Graham Clarkson where that happened. |

I thought in these situations you were only allowed to play the hand face up, but aren't allowed to bet yourself, only call villain's bets if you so wished...
Seems a bit harsh in the circumstances, unless you'd exposed a hand earlier in the tournament...

Seems fine to me.
Only issue was that your penalty should have started after the hand was finished - you shouldn't have needed permission to bet dark, you should have been able to just get on with it.
