Sorry about your situation, that is great that you have plans to keep you busy at this difficult time.
Obviously a solicitor is a must.
In the meantime, you may wish to try the Law section of www.theanswerbank.co.uk where there seem to be a bunch of lawyer types  ready to give longwinded but useful responses.

Thanks for the replys guys.

Have to ask a question regarding Child benefit because at the moment I receive that. Can I claim to be the resident parent as it seems to me they get a way better deal and I am quite happy being wiith the kids?

child benefit can only be claimed by one person.  You can only claim to be the resident parent if you have your children at least 50% of the time and certain other conditions are met.  If you wife disputes that you are the main carer the child benefit office will make a decision about who is the main carer based on factual information.
