Parkinson was brought in as Pardew's assistant at The Valley in January 2007, and stepped up as caretaker boss in late November in the wake of Pardew's departure.

The Addicks have not won any of the eight Championship games that Parkinson has been in charge for as caretaker, with his only points coming courtesy of draws against QPR, Derby and Southampton.

sigh, thanks for that kev. I would say the appointment has somewhat underwhelmed me. our only hope of staying up looked to be getting curbs back in, now we're doomed.
shame really, was looking forward to playing you next year but looks like we'll still be 1 division below you

the only positive is that we're obv completely skint (which is why we've gone for parky) and his record for signings with no money is pretty good.

pretty successful at colchester with a transfer budget of £zero and he bought the core of the hull team that's now doing its thang in the prem for just over a million

and you needed an appointment before January transfer window.

going to be a pretty crucial month

last year we got Holloway, who brought in masses of short term signings in Janauary. Gambled, chose badly, tactically naive, and took us down

Parkinson can turn them round but the next month's incomings are the key.

Not happy about this, I should stop supporting shit football teams but to me he has not done enough to get the job fulltime. Sad

lol, this is the understatement of the year, all 12 minutes of it though it may make it through to december. I doubt that any caretaker boss has ever had a worse record and then been given the job

so today was parky's first match as permanent boss. the rest of the season's certainly going to be interesting if that is anything to go by.

in his 5 years with us matt holland has never played anywhere but midfield so he obv started at centre back

we played the 1st 70 minutes with 1 up front and that was working pretty well tbh. then he had the brainwave of taking off the only striker and putting on another defender. I don't think I've ever seen a manager at any level play with no-one up front before, very, very strange

Charlton deserve to win? I mean we were probably one of the softest ties you could have got with our amazing FA cup and away records.

we absolutely destroyed you until a couple of minutes before the equaliser, could've/should've been 3 or 4 up, jonjo shelvey oozed class and you couldn't get near him. then shelvey tired and you took control at the end and were good for the draw in the end
