Villain dwells on the preflop call, checks, then insta c/r on the flop?  I seem to face this a lot, is it a genuine hand or an attempt at stealing the pot from me knowing I'll cbet?

This seems to happen a fair bit to me recently.

Yeah nothing that get on my nerves more in poker than this especially when it happens a lot.

I would probably fold readless, though I quite like checking behind this flop with jj going for a bit of pot control and inducing villian to get out of line with worse on later streets.

You should never bet this spot then be stuck what to do after his next action.

There are 3 reasons to bet this flop

To get him to fold
To get him to call
To get him to raise

The reason you used was

I have jacks and i raised pre......

As it is you should be betting this flop to get it in, his range is only beating JJ if he is a super nit. I would give him almost any pocket pair, fd's, Qx hands 6x and random air.

You also said he insta c/r min, it could be a missclick.
