My ex boss rolled down that cliff - can't find the video, will try and pick it up from work tomorrow, worth a watch.

He got stuck about halfway down holicopter could not get close enough to rescue him.

Another dumb ass question is when they tuck and spin during flight why don't they suddenly drop fast as thier wings arn't holding them up them?.

They kill their velocity and descent by pitching upwards, then they deploy the parachute you can (just) see on their backs.

Conservation of momentum. The trajectory they were on more or less continues without the lift provided by the wings, gravity only overcoming it gradually when the lift factor is removed.
