Windows are more transparent, but Mac's are good if you have a big flash drive.

Download a live CD of Ubuntu Dawn, give it a shot.
It's a Linux variant and uses UNIX the same as MAC /OS
You'll love it !
Just remember though, if you move to UNIX the majority of your poker sites wont work, there all designed for M$ Windows.
Don't worry though, for your favourite applications you can use a product called VMWARE, which basically lets you run XP under Linux / Ubuntu etc (It'ts as if youv'e got two computers for one).
PM me if you need more info. Hope you and the family are all well.
Dougie.

Macs are incredibly user-friendly and full of excellent, helpful little features that you don't fully realise the value of until you've been using them for a while. Lots of people are converted from using PCs to Macs, but no-one ever switches back from Mac to PC out of choice. People who tell you PCs are better are lifetime PC users who fear things they don't understand.
The main drawback of Macs is that a lot of poker software (in fact anything that comes as a .exe file) won't run on a Mac. In some ways this is good - viruses tend to arrive at your PC via a .exe file, so you don't get any of those nasties. However, Pokerstars' Mac software has got over its initial problems and now runs flawlessly. Hurrah. I suspect other poker sites will follow suit if they know what's good for them. If you desperately need to download .exe files, though, there are options - I partitioned my Mac hard drive so I can start it up either in OSX or in Windows, and Snoopy bought a bit of software called Parallels which allows him to run a virtual Windows desktop in OSX. Both of these solutions are excellent and we've never had problems using them.
Hurrah for the Mac revolution. Like that guy on the Onion said, I'll buy anything as long as it's shiny and made by Apple. They're just better.

There are lots of reasons Windows is better for the average user.
Main one is price. To do the things the average user wants to do 99% of the time, a PC will do it better, quicker, and for far less money.
For 'power' users there are many reasons that Windows is better. For 'some' users, Macs are better. For people who prefer form before function, Macs are often better. For people who like over-paying for their computers, Macs are often better.
If Macs are so good - why the need for a Windows emulator? Most PC users don't find the need for a Mac emulator.

People should stop dissing macs.
Thousands of small children enjoy using them. They're so shiny and colorful!
