[  ] run good

GUKPT Main... ATh after T92 2 hearts vs J8o and QQ. For approx 25k. Marv, J8o got there obv, that was the controversial acting hand by Andy Johnson I think. Then I am left with like 3k after dinner break, shove button after Chompy limps in the first hand back and he passes, 3950. Two hands later and a player comes in on the button, he is told he won't have a hand, but the dealer deals him in still. Fronda makes it 900 from EP, then someone points out its a misdeal, nobody seems to care and the dealer just says its fine, dont know if this is right or wrong though? Anyway I look down at AKo so get them in. The SB isolates now, marv. On their backs :

As vs

Two Clubs

SFSFSFSFSFSSFSFFSFSFSHPIOWFOHEOFGBEOGBFPNFPEHG{RG~RWGWRG~RW

Great game.

Half hour later the hundo freezeout starts, 25 left and I get it in for 60k @ 600/1200 with AK vs QQ. Comes : 3 3 2 A Q

rgpirshnpitnbptseibpitbsgptsbnsg #rhn

Left me with 24k coming back after break. Then I go and get it in with KJc with my last 10 bigs vs A6. Obv it comes, K x x x A.

The walsall GUKPT main will be my swan song of live poker in the UK, or any tournament under £1k buyins. I'll write a few paragraphs why soon

Bump, interested in your thoughts on this.

The volume of live tourneys i, or any other player plays in their lifetime is not going to be indicitive of whether they are a long term winner or not. It is conceivable that the best player the world has ever seen could play one £1k main event every month for 50 years and still get nowhere near to their expected value.
Add this in with the idiots you see on the circuit, who have the biggest ego's you will see in any sporting/gaming arena. You have no choice but to sit on tables with said idiots/morons/ego's for hours on end enduring the same old cliche's same old mumping, same old rubdowns, slowrolls.

It tilts me pretty much, maybe im jealous, when players, whom i know are huge losing players if they ran to expectaion, with huge stacks, hitting bumper paydays.
The expences of a week in a festival can get minty over a year if you like to do anything other than just stay in your hotel until tourney time.
Don't get me wrong their are some great guys on the circuit, but just because i don't wanna play a live event, doesnt mean i cant meet the lads for a beer every now and again. For example went out with a great bunch of guys on wednesday, akenhead, phillips, trickett, evens, ramsey, gibson, jaffa, even raaby and ian put on their dancing shoes. When we get back to the casino for a spot of more drinking and a wee cashgame, we sit on a table with the biggest idiot your likely to meet, who was trying his best to antagonise everyone at the table and almost induced a very calm member of the above into a fight. I just can't be doing with this shit, which ive seen so often recently.

Losing in a live tourney is so much more demorolising than losing one online, as thier is nothing else to do when you bust you dwell on even th most fundamental of plays, often ringing up freinds or asking peers fro re-assurance that u played it A OK. This can affect thinking in future events.

Live there is far too much, hollywood, dwelling that 15 hands an hour is not uncommon, so their is far less play live than online for the time you are playing.
Id rather sit at home and play a comp online, where i know everyones exact chipcounts and they have a time limit to stop hollywood dwells etc. Unless you love playing live then i dont see the point playing a tournament where first prize is less than you can win online wihout expences. It is true there is great value in these tournaments, and if they were everyday id sell my soul to play them all, as that way id be pretty sure to show a profit every month. As it is now its just who runs good at the right times, as it is in any comp, but i play 150xmore online comps than i do live so thats not a problem online.

There are many more reasons that i can't think of at the moment, Oh probably the biggest, when im deep in a tourney i like to have a quick shuffle at the break to relieve any tension i might feel. And i can consult the shrewdies, flushy moorman, pab etc and get their views on a hand if its marginal in my eyes.
And i smoke 20+ a day.

A quick shuffle at the break? Alone, or supervised?

Cheers, interesting post and not the first time I have read something similar about the atmosphere at circuit events.
