My step-mom and I are going on a cruise in August departing from Southampton port.  She's arriving in Gatwick airport and wants me to meet her there so she's not on her own trying to find the cruise port.  How far apart are the two and what's the best way to get from A to B?

About an hour and a bit by car.

Get a cab, but dont tip the driver, just give him ear plugs when you get in ... he will thank you by the time you get to southampton.

Get kev to come and give you a lift. He won't mind.

It would take the biggest bottle of Jack in the world and a pair of bose headphones for me to volunteer.

Aye.  Not til August, but want to get it sorted so I can send her the details.  She's the 'organised' type.

Awwwww, yer a star Kev.  Someone beat you to the offer, but they have to check the times suit first, so you may or may not be off the hook.  Owe ya a large drink now either way, just for the offer.  Cheers!

At a guess...what would the return trip be via taxi?  We dock at 5:30am and she needs to check in no later than 7:30 for her 9am flight back to America.

Sounds like you're cutting that fine - is 5.30am docking time or 'you can get off the boat now' time?
