How do I actually do a bank transfer please?

Via internet banking.

If you go to your bank's website you should be able to see on how to set this up.

I suppose you could also do it by actually physically going to a bank, but that's not something I ever do.

I have internet banking, I've just never transfered cash before.

It's just like paying a bill - you put in the payee's sort code and acc number, enter the amount and Robert is your mother's brother.
