Satellite 10 players left blinds are 3000/6000 I am on the button with 29000 and a player with 31000 shoves. There are 8 seats up for grabs and I look down at AK.

Because of the circumstances I thought for a second before calling... but is this always a call?

My logic is that I am probably against QQ to 66 and racing 50% of the time. Dominating AQ to A10 30% and behind AA or KK 10 to 20% of the time.

Am i right or could I have folded?

In this case he had 99 and hit on the flop.

What are the other stacks?

When do the blinds hit you?

Are their antes?

10 handed no antes I am the short stack and there are 2 other players with similar stacks to me - I'm on the button. No antes.

I think I fold here and just look to get my chips in in an unopened pot or two within the next few hands

Ugh, I hate these satellite orientated decisions, I always seem to make the wrong one and end up bubbling...

The fact this guy picks up 10k+ (assuming antes) if it gets through and you don't call doesn't help your cause, and you guarantee a seat if you win the hand. He could def be shoving light in his position.

I don't think you were wrong to call with AK in this spot.

Then again there are mitigating factors. If there are a couple more 30k stacks on the table you can make the fold. If there were 9 seats it's probs a fold as well.
