This guy has a -35% ROI in 176 games on Sharkscope, so is an uberfish by those standards...

My first game with him. He isn't quite as fishy as I was hoping, more like your average bad player that kind of knows what he's doing but plays passive.

He has been quite check-calley out of position. I've generally been raising on the button, but decided to limp here...

This is the first time he has put up any general resistance.

I feel I would beat this guy most of the time. Should this factor into my decision, as I'm left with plenty of chips if I fold.

Is this a standard fold? Does anyone think I should have called?

Missed flush draw did enter my thoughts, but I reckon he'd check-fold this tbh...

Save yourself for a hand in which you know where you stand. That ROI suggests you can take it down as long as you are still in the running, which you wouldn't be if he had any of the many hands where you are behind. IMO

Don't mind the fold if you know you can beat the guy up and he's the passive sort who doesn't bluff but think you should be raise or passing your button pre

Disagree with passing dude. Would never open fold suited connectors in position against a fish. Agree that raising is good general play, but my style isn't to raise 100% of hands on the button, so I mix in some calls here and there.

You not think this guy is capable of jamming with missed heart draws? I would be inclined to call tbh but HU is totally dependent on the flow of the game and difficult to discuss in PHA, he could also have turned something big with , but im am probably calling this on the river. I think a fish would play a flopped 2 pair or a turned 2 pair more straight up on the turn by c/r or betting smaller on the river for value. Interested to see other opinions.

I agree a fish probs plays flopped 2 pair more straight here. A missed flush or maybe straight draw is possible but I just don't think its likely with this player. That's quite a maniac play and this guy was the opposite of that.

I don't see him shoving with one pair because he has showdown value. Unless he's shoving KQ, KJ for value cos he thinks they're good?

Thinking about it more, I think the fold is right here, based on how I think the guy was playing, like you say these kind of decisions are player dependant and certain players you would have to snap off here...

Maybe the reason he doesn't seem so bad yet has a bad ROI is because he makes retarded shoves in spots like this.

I am snapping here.

That's a good point, I didn't really consider that.

On the theory of relying on sharkscope rather than the match so far, a snap would be unavoidable in this spot like you suggest.

Hmm...

Yep, I agree with James here. The first time I read the hand through I thought you'd just paired the 5 and felt that it was indeed a tough call. With 2 pair vs a bad player this is a pretty straightforward call in my book. A missed fd that paired the 7 looks likely imo.
