You get deep into a (on-line)tourney and your making all the right moves and then your cards dry up. You sit there for half an hour with nothing, you've tried bluffing a couple of hands just to stop the chip stack being eaten away by blinds but you've been sussed each time.
All of a sudden you wake up with aces in the hand and of course raise and lo......you hit trips on the flop. You thump a bet in and the numpty two seats down from you re raises all-in. The cards go over and he's sitting with 3, 6 os in his hand, the flop having 5,8. The turn gives him a 7 and he's on four-outer for the gutshot and BANG!!! there it is.
Short of strangling the cat how do you cope? This is just a one off thing but seems to happen to me on a regular basis no matter what level I play at.
I've worn out the 'BANG HEAD HERE' sign on the wall next to the PC and I'm suffering from blurred vision and head aches.
Any answers to this one?

Reload and start again, keeping to the front of your mind the fact that our friend mr 36os is what makes the games profitable.
You've done the donkey a great disservice though, he was up and down after the turn, no gutshot in sight.

Fire up another table. I was reading or listening to something recently (poss Phil Green) and he said that every time he takes a bad beat, he tries to get it in his head that he's inflicted a bad beat on someone else and moves on right away. mbn, but it's the right idea imo. Just fire up another game, start again. oh and pay the 50p

Phil Gordon! FML, I seem to get lots of first names and surnames mixed up recently. That's the one I anyway. Must be these dizzy heights I operate at.

There are some people to whom this does not happen on a regular basis. These people don't play poker though. Learn to accept this kind of thing as part of the game, and dealing with it gets a lot easier. Shrug shoulders, move on to the next comp, repeat ad nauseum.
