Rumours reach me that Sky Poker Presenter Richard Orford, well-known to be a complete donk at the Live Game, went to Luton on Friday for almost his first ever regular scheduled Tourney (a £75 Freezeout) - and WON IT, clearing over a grand.

He patented some new moves too - the K-2 double-up (v A-J) being just one.

He's not employed by Sky Poker as an Anayst as he's absoluely hopeless, so this is a bit of a turn-up.

He is now my long-term "screen-parrtner" at Sky Poker, so he is gonna get some stick on Monday's Show. At which he may well be the Analyst.

The Field was fairly weak on Friday to be fair - it included Chomps & Compo.

Rich said to me "Chomps played great, busting in 12th, & Compo played super for the entire time he was in - over 10 minutes apparently."

Rich also thanked me for teaching him everything he knew about poker. He wobbled a bit when he was down to 2 x BB, but took my advice, sat tight, (Passed a flopped K Flush to a min-Raise, too), & refused to panic.

But well done Rich. I spoke to him yesterday, he was thrilled to bits. He's one of the nicest men you could ever wish to meet, & straight as a die, so well done him.

I 'phoned Tom yesterday, to discuss some stuff, & mentioned Richard's victory.

Tom was delighted, too. He said.....

"Oh, I'm thrilled for him, he's such a nice guy, & much brighter than many give him credit for, & I've always liked him. Have you seen those mini-You-Tube Vids he made, taking the mickey out of Devilfish, & Lucy Rokach?".......

Well, I’m still in shock frankly.

Two years of being disrespected by the poker community: the barbed comments, the sniggers, the raised eyebrows, the occasional contribution to the debate on poker theory met with incredulous looks and then Friday- BANG, he’s only gone and done it, hasn’t he? Compo makes it past Level One.

I was delighted for him, and, although granted he didn’t quite make it to Level 3, there were a lot of positives to take away from his performance.

Personally, I loved my first visit to the G Casino and meeting all the regulars. I found them to be a very friendly bunch who couldn’t do enough for you- i.e. always willing to diss your play but in a jovial manner.

And yes I won it, but I went for the chop when I got heads-up in time-honoured Tikay tradition. You see, now not only does he look like Yoda, he acts like him too by training up young apprentices.

Therefore, in the light of my victory, Tikay and I have agreed that on future Sky Poker shows he must always finish his sentences as question marks by raising his voice slightly at the end and looking to me for confirmation before continuing. That way the viewers can be reassured that what’s being said has been approved by a higher poker authority.
Also, it will make him sound a bit like Yoda too. Or Yoda, a bit sound like, will it make him also.

Right, chirp over. It’s back to my micro-limit Double Your Money STTs....where I belong....

I suspect Richard won't be patenting the short-stacked pre-flop limp-fold move in the battle of the blinds judging by his comments after the fold Smiley.

Congrats Richard.

Well done sweetie that's fantastic news!

I'll want to hear all the good bits on Monday, as you pretend to edit your script whilst gossiping! Congrats once again!

I have rung my doctor for an emergency appointment as obviously he has got my medication wrong. For a moment there I thought I was reading a thread about Orford winning a poker competition at Luton.

I think we should all  chip in for a trophy Tikay can give him on Monday night programme and then watch as Tikay drops it. It's the ultimate rub down!

Well done Rich x

Sigh....

Tony rang me and told me that Matt Broughton had won the £75 at Luton. I said I "I bet he writes a song about that next." 10 minutes later he rang me back to say "No Tom, you've got it wrong, I said Richard Orford, you're thinking of Matt Broughton"   idiot

Damn you Facebook, damn you...

And there was me thinking this thread was called "Orford Outrage". Not "Orford Outage", or "Orford is a member of OutRage!"

Just to put those two photos into context-

The first is a detail of a larger photo. I'm actually on a night out in London and I've got a hot babe on either arm- who just happen to be narrowly out of shot.

The second is a "production meeting" with my fellow Sky Poker presenter DP Fitzgerald on a work night out. And although we are indeed declaring our love for one another, it's in a manly-we're-very-very-drunk kind of way.

I would ask for embarrassing pics of Joobie but I just can't imagine any would exist...
