Just downloaded the google browser and am taking it for a test drive.
Many people use it? Pros/cons?
Cheers

I tried it, but prefer Firefox because of the add-ons that are available so I can customise it to work how I want.
Chrome is pretty good though.

I'd agree with Kin.
I think Chrome might actually be better but the added functionality of the add ons make Firefox better for the time being.
If they add stuff like that to Chrome then I might switch over to Chrome completely.

I think that a lot of the good elements of Chrome (such as the separation of each tab, so if one crashes, the rest of them continue to work), the JavaScript engine, etc., will be brought over to Firefox. They might even converge into one browser eventually.

Firefox seems to be hiding my downloads. Any ideas? I download something, go to the folder where it was and it's no longer there!

Mmm, not sure. Have you moved where you want downloaded files to be saved? May I also suggest that you download the add-on called 'Download Statusbar' - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/26 That might help with the issue you're having, and it'll help you going forward anyway.

the downloads box comes up The files are listed, but I can't open them from there. They download fine, but once they've completed downloading, they insta move/delete. I 've seen it with the downloaded to folder open and the downloads box open, the completed download goes where it should, then bang, it's gone. Tried searching for the file on my comp but it's not found.

Does this happen with all files, or just some in particular? It's not your antivirus software quarantining them is it?

Ah, now there's a possibly related issue. AVG has stopped working, sort of and it wont uninstall. Could be related. Been trying to sort out AVG first but have been unsuccessful so far
Do you know where it quarantines things too?

If you're having problems with it, might be a good time to move to avast as well?

Go to the start menu and find Mozilla Firefox. There should be a shortcut to start it in safe mode. That will run it without any plugins or add-ons. If that doesn't make a difference, then it might well be your antivirus software.
