he was being offered 9/4 for an even money shot in effect
but before Kev says it, the banker knew that the guy couldn't say not to an offer...very few people could, so could offer him a hugely +EV gamble knowing he couldn't take it on

anyone who claims they'd no deal is either lying to them selves and would bottle it in the chair or are sick sick gamblers. if you have £50k and £250 and you're offered £100k then obvciously you gamble but you can't spin £75k up if the worst case scenario is £1. >:?

Caught the end of this one. I'd take the £75K everytime here.
If you can afford to take the gamble between £1 and £250K, rather than having a guaranteed £75K, you either dont need the money in the first place, or you shoud be put into an institution.
