"Andy Farrell is to join the Saracens coaching staff next season following his decision to retire from professional rugby."
A true legend of rugby league, but went over too late in his career to show union how much of a special talent he is/was.
From that page:
Farrell made his second team debut for Wigan aged just 15 and within a year he had become a first team regular. It wasn't long before international honours came his way when he made his debut for Great Britain aged 18. At 21 he became the youngest captain of his country and he went on to make 34 appearances for Great Britain. With Wigan, Farrell won five championships and four Challenge Cups along with winning the Golden Boot in 2004 - the award presented to the best player in the world.
He's the best rugby player I've ever had the fortune to watch live.

Hope he made some decent money from Saracens, nowt else seemed to go for him when he switched codes.
It's ok Wigan they just seem to be the only club who can sign players for huge amounts and fill the gaps.

We never replaced Farrell (we couldn't with one player). Since he left there's been a bloody big hole in the side. Now we have more holes than a colander.

I actually thought in the 2nd half of his career Farrell was overrated and there were better players than him in Super League. He was superb as a youngster at Wigan, but felt from a playing point of view that he wasn't an awful loss for Wigan at the time. Having said that he probably was a very good influence behind the scenes and a good leader, which Wigan probably did miss as well as his goal kicking.

Erm....no.
In fact I haven't met a St Helens fan who believes that either.

I'd say Hanley was part of a better team. Farrell had to carry the side a lot of the time. But both top, top notch players.

I'd say Hanley was part of a better team.
Only when he was playing for that fantastically talented Wigan side. Admittedly he was at his peak then but he also did the business in less dominant sides at Bradford, Leeds and in Australia.
And I used to deliver his newspaper, so that settles it.

That's fair enough then. You should have said that from the beginning
