I can see why the ref gave it.  His view of the ball was blocked by both players and if he thinks it's a foul then Fletcher is the last man and stops a goalscoring opportunity.

It doesn't really make any difference to this game, but for Darren Fletcher, it makes a big difference.  He has been a major player in our Champs League games this season and after sitting on the bench for the final last season, I think he was a certain to start this seasons final.

Very wrong that there's no way of looking at an incident afterwards in which the referee has made a genuine mistake.

Ref can only give it if he is certain no?? Dont they say if theres an element of doubt then they cant award it??

I think the fact that they cant appeal it makes a mockery of the competition...Fletchers been a decent solid player and you really have to feel for him; but in terms of this being UEFA's most glamorous showpiece tournament- what happens if Messi does something similar tomorrow(as an example) and Barca Qualify? The showpiece final would be ruined because of a ridiculous rule.

Sad for Fletcher ... as soon as that happened real time i said "what a tackle" ... then looked on in disbelief as the ref rushed for the red.  Poor.

Also the goons should have had a man off, Adebyor's tackle on Carrick was shocking.

Loved the goons walking out on the hour mark ... Carlsberg dont do Tuesdays, but if they did ....

After a fingertip search of the offices at the library, someone found the key to the goons trophy cabinet

Completely different decision- your talking about video evidence to make on the spot decisions(which would slow the game down)... we're talking about retrospective decisions regarding sendings off- players can be banned in the champions league by video evidence so why cant red cards be appealed and thus rescinded

Can it not be wiped in the unlikely event of a ref coming out and saying he got it wrong?

Not according to ITV- there is no appeals commitee at UEFA-only for mistaken identity which is a bit meh!!! especially when you consider it is a club competition and pretty much every domestic club competition allows appeals with regards to sendings off
