I am worried that the language barrier will cause some problems for members.

If someone could post some simple translations, it would be appreciated

EG "On ilkley moor bah tat"  WTF does that mean ?

WTF is a barm cake ?

Temple Newsome ... is it a fkin temple or what ?

Flat caps and whippets ... is that required to get into Leeds ??

And what do we do when people start talking about the local football team ... do we politely point out that they are shit and they should forget history, its the present day that counts, or pander to their delusions that they are a sleeping giant and should be back in the champions league immediately.

Sung to the old Methodist hymn tune Cranbrook (composed by Canterbury-based shoemaker Thomas Clark in 1805 as a setting of While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night), the song tells of a lover courting the object of his affections, Mary Jane, on Ilkley Moor without a hat (baht 'at). The singer chides the lover for his lack of headwear – for in the cold winds of Ilkley Moor this will mean his death from exposure.

Temple Newsome ... is it a fkin temple or what ?

Temple Newsome is an awsome place, it used to belong to the Knights Templar and it has tunnels under it leading miles out across leeds. I has farm, great house, gardens and 2 nice golf courses I used to play daily when a kid. Worth a trip!

I am sure you will be able to handle the accent up north Kev Smiley
