"The string section is the largest body of the standard orchestra and consists of bowed string instruments of the violin family."

A harp is not a bowed string instrument of the violin family. I agree with Jon MW.

A harp is not a bowed string instrument of the violin family. I agree with Jon MW.

next person to use a standard orchestra in an argument gets taken to court by roberthm

As you never stated a specific orchestra type, standard is the only one which should be considered.

an

[ x ] article used in question before orchestra

[   ] definite article

[ x ] indefinite article

So if a harp appears in the string section of any orchestra (I believe gatso has cited some examples) then the answer is not a fail.

IF this wasn't the case we could just create our own orchestras and put the trombone in the string section for example

I've seen a guitar in an orchestra. Once. Does that mean it should count?

The question asked for the string section to be considered. Wikipedia's specific article on the string section, linked to by Laxie, says only 4 instruments. Harp was not one of these, ergo Harp is a fail.

Harp was a wank lager, and for that reason it should be a fail.

stop harpin on about it

http://www.hagbourneschool.co.uk/rhodes_into_music/the_string_section.htm

The Harp

There is normally only one or two harps in an orchestra. The sound of a harp is produced like the pizzicato on a violin.

As you never stated a specific orchestra type, standard is the only one which should be considered.

This second clause in your sentence is not a logical argument that follows from the first clause.

Another example of such a sentence.

As you never wore blue pants today, I should be given 6 points off my score.

In fact, I was giving the QM big credit for coming up with one that was so definitely going to throw scores out of the water when only 4 correct answers were available.  Don't tell me I over rated my respect for your QM duties.
