Which manager would want to work for a board that still seethe at the thought of opening the biscuit tin?

Think Rangers have taken over the biscuit tin lately & in the future. Even the CL money won't pay for a lot or keep the current squad, Lloyds'll be taking most of it.

Can't argue too much with that - only question is who decided not to spend? Board claim money was there & Strachan said he didn't need it.

The board will say whatever they have to say to try and shift season tickets.

Have you seen the seedings for the CL qualifiers? Looks like the Europa League is the best we can hope for!

Good thing is the Europa League looks to be worth similar to the CL to us when share of audience/ amount of home games etc is taken into account, so not the huge financial problem that the poodles wll no doubt be proclaiming.

Just heard on Talksport that David O'Leary might be in the frame, now that would be a quality appointment.

The rumour mill won't have long to run. Our first CL qualifier is in 8 weeks I think.

In that time we need to get a new manager in, plus backroom staff, clear out as much deadwood as possible (upwards of ten players if I had my way), and find replacements.

To be fair to Strachan, he did a very good job in rejuvenating an old squad left by Martin O'Neill. The problem was he lost his way very quickly after that and now we are back to square one.

As for Moyes, I can recall discussing him as a Strachan replacement 18 months ago after we dropped points at home to Hibs. Back then he was feasible I think. Now it seems he is more likely to be in line for the Man Utd job?

I don't think any manager would come to the club without knowing the transfer budget they are expected to work to. O'Neill obviously insisted on a big budget. Strachan came knowing he'd have a small budget.

I think the next manager can expect a Strachan type budget, which means it's more likely to be another low key appointment.

Of course if Dermot Desmond (the man who bought London City Airport for £23.5m and sold it ten years later for £1.2 BILLION) decides to get his cheque book out, all bets are off!!

You Beauty!!!!!!

So funny. The guy wins three titles on the spin, is highly regarded everywhere, and you are delighted he's gone. Amazing, and what's more aamzing is cambo hasn;t pulled you on it, yet we should have been delighted to have Calderplank?

He did fine in the first two seasons. Gave us some great nights in Europe, but it's been a steady deterioration from then on.

Saying he won three titles on the spin is all well and good, but we won them against a pile of dross. I said elsewhere that winning the league on the last day this season would be like getting a split decison after 12 rounds vs Stephen Hawking. As it happens, we lost. So how bad is that?

As for being well regarded elsewhere, I've just heard a Sunderland fan on the TV saying they are dead against him as next manager. So he is hardly the new Mourinho.
