"I would love to play this as I think it will be a weak field"

why do you think this?

i think he is right - surely it will be full of internet qualifiers/people unused to playing live? if less people playing have bought in directly doesnt that drop the general standard? (obviously a bit of a generalisation)
...

I was wondering how much advantage an edge over the average standard really helps?

Isn't it the edge over the top, say, 10% of the field that's really relevant?

interesting point, but i actually disagree completely.

i think with a lot of weak players in a field the advantages of being a top player compared to a fairly good player are not that great, as a large proportion of play is directed against these weaker players.  it is more just about being technically sound enough to pick up chips from easy targets (IMO - obviously you may disagree)

Well your easy targets include Dave Colclough, Lawrence Gosney, Paul Gourlay, Nick Hicks, Blatch, & we must not forget the dreaded Rutter clan.

Happy Targeting. Wink

hehe of course i didnt mean that all the players will be weak Smiley - just that maybe a higher proportion will be in this event than in others of a similar buy-in

Played vs Dave Colclough before only got i  hand with in the 5 hours he was at my table he bet and shoved the thought about it and passed

Lawrence Gosney yea a very good player but i have a read on him as he plays in leeds with me, Paul Gourlay is my ex Area manager so that should be fun played with him before in newcastle where he knocked me out
