This isnt my hand but a friends hand we have been discussing.  Thought Id post it here for further opinion.  This is stars 50 rebuy 16 left, I think at this point hero and villain are both top 3 in chips. Last hand hero won a big pot and is now on the button, villian in BB has been aggressive and has shown he can 3 bet light........

9-max Seat #5 is the button
Seat 1:  (110775 in chips)
Seat 2:  (39752 in chips)
Seat 3:  (74542 in chips)
Seat 5: HERO (195263 in chips)
Seat 6:  (149888 in chips) out of hand (moved from another table into small blind)
Seat 7:  (38244 in chips)
Seat 8: VILLAIN (248597 in chips)
Seat 9:  (128944 in chips)
Seat 1: posts the ante 300
Seat 2: posts the ante 300
Seat 3: posts the ante 300
HERO: posts the ante 300
Seat 7: posts the ante 300
Villain: posts the ante 300
Seat 9: posts the ante 300
Seat 7: posts small blind 1500
VILLAIN: posts big blind 3000
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to HERO [As ]
FOLDED TO HERO
HERO: raises 4500 to 7500
SB: folds
VILLAIN: raises 16350 to 23850
HERO: raises 42150 to 66000
VILLAIN: raises 182297 to 248297 and is all-in

Based on the info given, would like to know what you think of the Hero's 4bet and 4 bet amount.  And then when the villain 5 bet shoves, what range do we have him on here and do we call or fold?

Would anyone play the hand any differently until this point?

Thanks

I'm weak so I flat his 3 bet.

Hero has to have a plan when he 4 bets. Slightly less would have been OK but his bet size only makes sense when he snap-calls any jam.

You should never be ahead here though so I fold.

Spewy line imo but I don't really like the call pre oop either

As we're so deep perhaps fold to the 3 bet. Really depends on history I think

Impossible to answer without knowing the dynamic obv 4 betting to fold is terrible with AQ.

^^Yeah effectively the plan if we 4 bet is to call a shove so we have to call

Fold to the 3 bet is fine unless this guy has been 3betting us a lot...

Deep, against a guy who can damage our chip stack oop, I don't think it's a hand to go crazy with

Thinking about it though, you're right, folding to a 3bet is ridiculously weak, I guess a flat is fine here?

Then lol @ me suggesting folding...

Flatting the 3bet in position looks good to me then...

no idea cant see his stats. if he a winner depends what your stats are. im guessin u all the usual vpip stuff so giving him a decent range and the fact its so top heavy means he shud 3bet then 5bet donk wider then aa/kk im prob giving him 88 plus aj and 89 suited for shaundeeb reasons Smiley  its a spot to gamble imo. playinto win foldings bad . if shaundeeb ever folds in this spot ide be very surprised regardless of villians stats .

ugh, with a dynamic of 3betting this is a sweet spot and the 4b sizing is perfect to induce 5b jams. without history i think flatting his 3b is prolly optimal, i dont see ppl stacking 70bb 8handed with a range that has AQ in good shape.

This is what I thought, calling a 5 bet jam for 70BBs usually AQ would be crushed?  If so, do we flat the 3 bet and play post flop in position putting the villain on a wider range or can we 4 bet/fold leaving a playable 30bbs behind?

I know 4 bet/folding is terrible but surely we cant just get it in to the 5b shove purely because we 4 bet as we are usually facing the top of his range here?
