( ) Calling Serena Williams a man is funny.
+1 Stunningly talented women.
+2 How is calling a man a man meant to be even remotely funny?

I will be laying Mr Murray this afternoon Im just not sure how much.
No real technical reasons, I dont care where he is from, I just expect him to fall to pieces at some point and I think it will be this afternoon.

What are people's thoughts on the Murray match from a non betting point of view today.
For me personally, i have found it difficult to want to see Murray win in the same way i wanted Henman to win.
Not to sure of the reason for this, could be that he is Scottish and not English (did the scots want Henman to win the same way they want Murray to win?), could be his miserable charachter, or could just be the fact that i wont be able to see the final if he makes it as i am at the boys 6-a-side tournament.
Watching the Murray v Wawrinka match, when it went to the 5th set, i really didnt mind who won, as i felt that Wawrinka deserved it on the day.
As it stands at the moment i have to say that i am not overly fussed whether he beats Roddick today or not.
Just wondered what other people's thoughts are on this?
Apathy to be honest. Funnily enough, I had the same interest in Henman. I just can't get excited about Murray, although he's a fantastic player and only a matter of time before he wins a slam imo. I neither like nor dislike Murray though, I just find him....a bit meh. There are some players that get you excited and have a charisma about them.
Or maybe I'm just a miserable sod.

The reason you wanted Henman to win is because you know he never really had a chance.

I'd like him to win. That said I think either would lose a final to Federer.
Don't care about the Scottish/English thing, think he's a much improved player, and a much improved player that's British. Clearly he has bulked up and added power but I especially like the craft of his game, the slices and the drop shots which are at odds with what you see from a lot of the others
That second serve is still his biggest weakness
Even if he loses today, he's done himself proud. Not easy to deal with the added pressure of being a Brit going deep at Wimbledon as Henman always found.
Agree - especially his second serve. He has potential to win as he has beaten both Federer and Roddick more than once, though I feel it is not his year this year, as Federer is really on top form and I think Federer will win.

Hmmm don't get this apathy for Murray, if anything I think Henman was a more bland character whereas I think Murray has a either hate or love him character. Is the apathy more to do with the fact you don't like him but feel you should be supporting cos he is British?
I like Murray and think he is a terrific talent that is starting to reach his potential, I expect him to beat Roddick in 3 or 4 today and give Federer a good game in the final.

The thing is i dont hate him either.
I dont sit there every game he plays praying for him to lose as i did with Greg Rusedski.
If he wins today he wins - i just want the first British player to reach a Wimbledon final for a gazillion years to be someone that i can really get behind and support.

[ ] Well read.
I said I felt the same towards Henman as I do with Murray. No difference. When Henman played Ivanisevic, I was cheering Goran on - not Tiger Tim. I'm usually fairly patriotic as well, but just can't 'get up' for either of them.

Interesting and thoughtful comments about the subject.................until this post.
I dont think there has been any Murray bashing on here - just people's honest views on what they think of him. I havent seen people start calling him names or any derogitory comments about him.
IMO Murray spends the whole time moaning at himself, telling himself to focus, generally looks unhappy at everything going on around him - compare that to Federer/Nadal etc and they are total opposites.
Wawrinka played well above himself, and had break points in each set. Just because Murray eventually won the match does that mean he deserved to win?

Yeah, you're right, Fed and Nadal always look delighted on court.
