I could have walked in on the fly and done a better pitch, he was never going to get the money anyway but that was terrible.

It may have been the presentation, yer, they're not totally against the idea I think, the right person might get backing from Theo and Duncan.

Fergus next time maybe? That would be worth a watch.

He did miss a few opportunities, but its far easier as an armchair critic.  Starting a short handed game might not have been a winner. Either for the venture capitalists taht were frozen out or for those that played and sent him spinning...

Backing a poker player is a gamble, but so is opening a restaurant at the moment.

I thought that was a pretty bad pitch really.

Firstly, wear a suit. Don't wear sunglasses ffs. One of them even commented on that.

I'd have been more inclined to talk up the gambling side of it. Don't even try and pitch it as a business as it clearly isn't one. Point out that you're a +EV gamble. Offer some proof that you're a +EV gamble. Explain why poker is gambling that can give a good player an edge, etc. And once they realise this just hope one of them takes a punt.

Even then though I doubt this will succeed. As soon as he said he'd won 500k the obvious question was "why do you need our money?" When you answer "i spent it on a holiday home abroad somewhere and haven't got any of it left" then you're unlikely to get far.

surely there is an idea here, Ivey Channing Kravchenko Tony G Flushy as the dragons,  players make their pitch and the dragons argue about the %'s

More I think of this, the more I love it. Surely Boyles have a few quids left in their budget to commission a show like this? Donkeys Den

It would be called The Fish Tank surely.

It was a thinly veiled 'I love Griggy post but I just can't admit it'.

I played against JJ several times at the Gutshot in £1/2 and £2/5 and he can beat standard small live cash games where people are queuing up to give their wages and roulette winnings away and he's decent but thats about it - nothing special. If I gave him £65k to play 33 comps I wouldn't expect much back and would be happy to break even.
