Villian 1 limps UTG. Villian 1 usually plays a tight aggressive style, but is capable of making moves when the situation warrants it.
Hero calls in MP with 
Villian 2 calls from the SB. No reads of note, and it's not him we're too worried about.

Villian 2 leads out for 500.

Hero has ~5,500 left in his stack, with both other players covering.

What's our play here?

Its a little more awkward because we didn't raise pre - and because it looks like we have done half our chips by the 2nd level. Other than that we clearly had the best hand pre-flop and more than likely still have the best hand.

When you limp with 99 what better board do you want that doesn't contain another 9?

This spot is definitely not awkward. You have usually got the best hand here but it's vulnerable so you should raise.

1600 should be enough to find out if the others are serious about their hands and you will probably take it down now.

When one of them shoves it will feel a bit more awkward but you have to instasnap. Because you now have a shortish stack the others won't even think about shoving on you with 34, 67 or top pair. If they've made 2 pair you have quite a few counterfeit binks. If they've made a set or have limped with a big pair you have a couple of binks still available.

Oh and to avoid all of this just raise pre in future.

I wasn't actually the Hero in this hand. I just posted it because I thought it was interesting. I myself would probably have raised this pre, but I'd also be very suspicious of this particular villian limping UTG.

Hero shoved, and Villian 2 snapped him off with 22. Hero then hit a 9 on the river lol.

Shoving is even worse than his limp pre.

What can call him that he beats. Great bluff with an overpair sir. WP.

Raise then at least there's a chance of someone shoving with something worse.

preflop makes this hand pretty tough to play correctly. Shoving allin on this flop is like 100% spew btw.
