Hopefully he will make a full recovery.

Maybe my memory is failing, but wasn't Senna killed at the Tamburello corner and Ratzenberger at the Gilles Villeneuve corner?

indeed. senna was one corner earlier

also ratzenberger shouldn't really be included in discussions on safety. he damaged his car quite badly but still decided to put in another flying lap.

it doesn't matter how safe you make the sport, you simply can't allow for someone choosing to put their life on the line like that

Yes, they crashed at different corners but it was the fact that both died from severe head trauma that the cockpit sides were subsequently made higher and stronger.

It has taken 15 years for two freak head injuries to occur despite all the extra protection now offered to the drivers.

Last weekend was very sad with young Henry Surtees losing his life, and Massa's accident was also very unlucky but it looks like he will be ok, which of course is excellent news. But we must'nt lose perspective here. The sport is dangerous and no matter how many reviews they have on safety, this fact can't ever be removed.

It is strange that two similar incidents should occur so close together but as poker players we should understand better than most that things don't happen in uniform cycles; life itself has an unpredictable and seemingly weird 'variance' to it that we may never truly understand.

Kimi must be ecstatic.

Looks like the car's just coming together as well so the next few GPs could be very exciting.

3 week break to prepare is good as well. I can see him stirring things up a bit.

It's like some sort of pro wrestling storyline.
