Apart from quick defrosting (done badly) the ONLY thing a microwave is good for is microwave in the bag popcorn.

... They're quick and easy I'll grant you that but they make everything taste shit. Lazy man's folly!!
...
That largely depends on what you're microwaving. A whole meal in a microwave is just for convenience - but elements of one are just the same as other methods. Name one of these elements please. I don't believe one exists. Baked Beans - are you really saying they taste different heated on a hob? yes they do..baked beans from a microwave are disgusting. When warming baked beans you need to keep stirring them.

When warming baked beans you need to keep stirring them. They haven't exactly got a complicated sauce - it doesn't need constant stirring. Although if you're saying bunging things in the microwave, turning the power to max, and zapping it until things start popping - yes, that way, it won't taste good.

Easier washing up, less effort overall. EDIT: and also handy when all your hobs are in use

never has so much bollocks been spoken about microwaving beans. how is the washing up easier? half the time when you microwave them you get those scabby burnt bits that need scrubbing off as opposed to a saucepan that can pretty much just be rinsed clean

timing, stirring and a rough idea of low, medium or high - not exactly an effort. I only said baked beans because I thought it would be the least likely thing you could mess up in a microwave.

I remember when domestic microwaves first came out and the press told everyone that they were really dangerous if you turned them on when empty and would blow up so everyone used to keep a little bowl of water inside just in case the thing should ever accidentally spring to life. people are funny

If you like nasty hard beans in a watery sauce then a microwave is fine.
If you prefer them cooked properly in a nice thickened sauce then hob is better.
As for washing up... Please Jon, that really isn't an excuse.
Oh and 5 ring hob ftw!!
