you need a copy of hirens boot disc. that will do the job. it has about 5 different password file mod tools on it.
i never leave hoime without it.
otherwise, whats the spec of the towers, and how much do you want for them
?

Link on previous page, live CD for Xp and Vista. It's the business. For virus cleaning tasks, I boot from Win UBCD (Ulitmate Boot CD), then run up to-date sophos off a USB stick.

I think the advice generally is run it off the power lead when you can but let the battery run down completely every now and again

when i fire the laptop up it comes up with a black HDD password screen to which i enter same password but its irritating any ideas how to get rid?

Think this is a bit of an urban myth. I went thru 2 batteries on my laptop till I started removing them when on power cable.

You need to get into the bios setup to turn this off.
When booting try, ESC, DEL key, F1 or F2 etc, should tell you on initial power on what the bios access key is.
