I've got a HUGE fancy after having an initial study up.

Carmelita jeter to win the women 100m

She's best price 13/2 after being 9's with betfred yesterday, genrally 5-6/1.

She won the US trials when pulling up with a slight pulled muscle which is usually a good guide on the face of things but maybe not so much with the current Jamaican domination in both mens and womens sprinting but she also won very impressively at crystal palce a few weeks ago when clocking a PB against a really classy field, she's also already beaten the current olympic champion this season.(she's beaten the first two in the betting this season).

but neither of her two previous victories were what impressed me the most about her, she has a phenomenal style of running and looks like a flying machine, she gets going about the 50-60m mark then just takes off and it looked to me like at crystal palce she couldve gone faster, shes got the same sort of style as bolt when he gets into full flow and having just done a PB and being very young i think she's come into her prime at just the right time, i think the 13/2 still available is huge wouldnt put off anyone else getting on.

Dont really fancy much else at the moment(or not anything thats any sort of value) but asafa powell @ 2/1 to win without the big two is a bet i'd lay all day long, his bottle goes when people get in front of him, his action goes and he just loses it, IMPOSSIBLE with bolt and gay taking off in front of him he'll keep his rhythm and finish third, buying money imo.

The men's 200m might be better than at the 96 Olympics.

That is all.

Bolt v Gay in both sprints will make it interesting to watch.

In terms of British athletes, we've got Ennis in the Heptathlon who's no.1 in the world, and Idowu in the triple jump.  His problem is that he's had problems at the big championships, but if he nails his first jump then he could win it.  Otherwise, we could pick up a few medals here and there but I can't see any other golds.

Yes and no on the sprints imo. Bolt shouldn't have any trouble in the 100m.

But after 3 rounds of the 200m and 4 previous rounds in the 100m, I think the 200 final might go very close. Gay has run some sick times this year at 200m.

For once the best sprinters in the world are both better at 200m!

Oh, I think Bolt will win both, but he'll have to make an effort in the 100m.

Not sure how fast the track is, but if the conditions are right we could see world-record runs.

Good to see a Brit who's matching the expectation, with Jessica Ennis in the heptathlon.  In the lead with two events to go - don't balls it up!

Of course, later on this evening it's Bolt v Gay in the 100m, with a support cast of Powell.  A world record in the final?

Can you give a rough time to be looking out for this?

Paula wins the NY half-marathon, so looks in good shape for the world championship marathon next Sunday.
