Why did the british guy get disqualified when he only false started once? I presume it was something to do with Bolts first false start?
the field is allowed one false. any subsequent ones are dqs. they may drop that rule next season and make all false starts dqs That's the rule in swimming which seems to work okay I think

Why was it introduced in the first place? It used to be per athlete and finals took longer than the marathon by the time they all took a shot at jumping the gun. Sandy

Why was it introduced in the first place? Why do they bother giving a runner a yellow card? It's utterly meaningless, as everyone's on a yellow after the first. A ridiculous rule, and it should either be an individual yellow card, or straight reds for any false starters (which is what they'll have next season).
