The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

but how much has he loosed?

No idea - maybe more than he's won, I don't know. I just know his "winnings" are more than most players could ever hope to achieve.

When I first came to poker, I actually thought that Player Databases such as THM were having a laugh. They list winnings, but not losses. After a lifetime in commerce, that stat seemed to me to be meaningless. (As indeed, it is). It's like, say, Gross Profit, in business - it means nothing - Net Profit is the number that counts.

But all Live Poker Databases work the same way - cashes listed, losses not mentioned. It's a complete & utter nonsense, but those immersed in poker long enough gradually come to accept them as some sort of yardstick. And by that yardstick, Alan is as good as most in UK Live Poker.

I wonder how many other prominent Circuit players, or even Online players, have his longevity in the game?

scores of players on this site already have his longevity, hand-wise

The wisdom and experience gained over a long period of time is worth more than that gained over a shorter timescale, IMO.

Well done Karl, beats Iwan J Heads up

September 6th, 2009 at 11:39 pm

The very next hand it ended. Iwan had 13k left and was all in with T-7. Karl had A-4. No improvement for Iwan and he finishes in 2nd place for £25,200. Karl Mahrenholz is the third Hitsquad player to win a GUKPT. He was runner up at the inaugural GUKPT in Bolton in 2007 and now he has joined Praz Bansi and Sunny Chattha by taking down a main event. He takes away £38,700, a seat in the Champion of Champion’s event and a nice blue trophy.

Info from the GUKPT blog, again.
