Long time since I've been to this thread, so apologies if these have already been posted: (I have trimmed them down too!)
I'll be your dream
I'll be your wish
I'll be your fantasy
I'll be your hope
I'll be your love
Be everything that you need
I'll love you more with every breath
Truly, madly, deeply do
I will be strong
I will be faithful
'Cause I'm counting on
A new beginning
A reason for living
A deeper meaning, yeah
And I wanna stand with you on a mountain
I wanna bathe with you in the sea
I wanna lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me
And when the stars are shining brightly in the velvet sky
I'll make a wish, send it to heaven then make you want to cry
The tears of joy for all the pleasure in the certainty
That we're surrounded by the comfort and protection of
The highest power
In lonely hours
The tears devour you
And I wanna stand with you on a mountain
I wanna bathe with you in the sea
I wanna lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me
Oh can you see it baby?
You don't have to close your eyes
'Cause it's standing right before you
All that you need will surely come

outside the takeaway saturday night
a bald adolescent asked me out for a fight
he was no bigger than a two penny fart
he was a deft exponent of the martial arts
he gave me three warnings, trod on my toes
stuck his fingers in my eyes , kicked me in the nose
a rabbit punch made my eyes explode
me head went dead , i fell in the road
pleading for mercy i wriggled on the ground
he kicked me in the balls and said something profound
stole me chop suey and left me for dead
through rivers of blood and splintered bone
i crawled half a mile to the public telephone
i pulled out a corpse from the phonebox
held back the bile
and with a broken index finger
proceded to dial
couldnt get an ambulance the phone was screwed
the reciever fell in half,it had been kung fu-ed
a black belt karate cop opened up the door
demanding information bout the stiff on the floor
he looked like an extra from yang shang poo
said whats all this then ah so ah so ah so
he wore a bamboo mask
he was jeng nung teng
he finished his devotions
and he beat me up again
thanks to that embryonic Bruce Lee
im a shadow of the man i used to be
i cant go back to Salford, the cops have got me marked
enter the Dragon
exit Johnny Clarke

The old home town looks the same
as I step down from the train,
and there to meet me is my Mama and Papa.
Down the road I look and there runs Mary
hair of gold and lips like cherries.
It's good to touch the green, green grass of home.
Yes, they all come to meet me, arms reaching, smiling sweetly.
It's good to touch the green, green grass of home.
The old house is still standin',
thought the paint is cracked and dry,
and there's that old oak tree that I used to play on.
Down the lane I'll walk with my sweet Mary,
hair of gold and lips like cherries.
It's good to touch the green, green grass of home.
(spoken)
Then I awake and look around me,
at four grey wall surround me
and I realize -yes- I was only dreaming.
For there's a guard and there's a sad old padre -
arm in arm we'll walk at daybreak.
Again I'll touch the green, green grass of home.
Yes, they'll all come to see me in the shade of that old oak tree
as they lay me neath the green, green grass of home.

This is a modern world - This is the modern world
What kind of a fool do you think I am?
You think I know nothing of the modern world
All my life has been the same
I've learned to live by hate and pain
It's my inspiration drive -
I've learned more than you'll ever know
Even at school I felt quite sure
That one day I would be on top
And I'd look down upon the map
The teachers that said I'd be nothing
This is the modern world that I've learnt about
This is the modern world, we don't need no one
To tell us what's right or wrong -
Say what you like 'cause I don't care
I know where I am and going to
It's somewhere I won't preview
Don't have to explain myself to you
I don't give two fucks about your review

The distant echo -
Of faraway voices boarding faraway trains
To take them home to
The ones that they love and who love them forever
The glazed, dirty steps - repeat my own and reflect my thoughts
Cold and uninviting, partially naked
Except for toffee wrapers and this morning’s paper
Mr. jones got run down
Headlines of death and sorrow - they tell of tomorrow
Madmen on the rampage
And I’m down in the tube station at midnight
I fumble for change - and pull out the queen
Smiling, beguiling
I put in the money and pull out a plum
Behind me
Whispers in the shadows - gruff blazing voices
Hating, waiting
Hey boy they shout - have you got any money?
And I said - I’ve a little money and a take away curry,
I’m on my way home to my wife.
She’ll be lining up the cutlery,
You know she’s expecting me
Polishing the glasses and pulling out the cork
And I’m down in the tube station at midnight
I first felt a fist, and then a kick
I could now smell their breath
They smelt of pubs and wormwood scrubs
And too many right wing meetings
My life swam around me
It took a look and drowned me in it’s own existence
The smell of brown leather
It blended in with the weather
It filled my eyes, ears, nose and mouth
It blocked all my senses
Couldn’t see, hear, speak any longer
And I’m down in the tube station at midnight
I said I was down in the tube station at midnight
The last thing that I saw
As I lay there on the floor
Was jesus saves painted by an atheist nutter
And a british rail poster read have an awayday - a cheap holiday -
Do it today!
I glanced back on my life
And thought about my wife
’cause they took the keys - and she’ll think it’s me
And I’m down in the tube station at midnight
The wine will be flat and the curry’s gone cold
I’m down in the tube station at midnight
Don’t want to go down in a tube station at midnight

I've been looking through microscopes to see how all life begins
I've been training my lens on the stars to see where it ends
But it's this living in between that is bringing me down
To a land that's lost in dreams

Was in the early evening and the sun was punching into my head
outside a Stockholm cafe at the river's edge we sat and smiled
we said how rich we were and how warm we felt with a cognac heart
talked over women in a lonely voice and began to jive
All the men are hungry, all the men are in search of time
Was in a scene from "Death in The Afternoon" when I almost cried
I realized Papa wanted me to live in his bull-ring Life
it made me hungry for Peace and it made me wild and tore my heart
it didn't help to wipe away the fears like he often claimed
All the men are hungry, all the men are in search of time
Was in a frenzy from the Midnight air when I saw the light
I realized only children can live upon a Timeless Flight
it made me hungry for youth and it made me sad and made me laugh
to think that as we live and learn we only follow God's path
All the men are hungry, all the men are in search of time
All the men are hungry, all the men are in search of time

The The
- This is the Day
Well you didn't wake up this morning, cos you didn't go to bed,
you were watching the whites of your eyes turn red.
The calendar on your wall,is ticking the days off,
Youv'e been reading some old letters, you smile and think how much youv'e changed,
all the money in the world couldn't buy back those days.
You pull back the curtains and the sun burns into your eyes,
you watch a plane flying, across the clear blue sky.
This is the day, your life will surely change,
This is the day, when things fall into place.
You could of done anything, you'd wanted,
and all your friends and family think that your lucky.
There's a time you'll never see, when you left them only memories,
that hold your life, together like glue.
You pull back the curtains and the sun burns into your eyes,
you watch a plane flying across the clear blue sky,
This is the day, your life will surely change,
this is the day when things fall into place.
this is the day (this is the day),
Your life will surely change.

Well they blew up the chicken man in Philly last night now they blew up his house too
Down on the boardwalk they're gettin' ready for a fight gonna see what them racket boys can do
Now there's trouble busin' in from outta state and the D.A. can't get no relief
Gonna be a rumble out on the promenade and the gamblin' commission's hangin' on by the skin of its teeth
Well now everything dies baby that's a fact
But maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Put your makeup on fix your hair up pretty
And meet me tonight in Atlantic City
Well I got a job and tried to put my money away
But I got debts that no honest man can pay
So I drew what I had from the Central Trust
And I bought us two tickets on that Coast City bus
Now our luck may have died and our love may be cold but with you forever I'll stay
We're goin' out where the sand's turnin' to gold so put on your stockin's baby 'cause the night's getting cold
And everything dies baby that's a fact
But maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Now I been lookin' for a job but it's hard to find
Down here it's just winners and losers and don't get caught on the wrong side of that line
Well I'm tired of comin' out on the losin' end
So honey last night I met this guy and I'm gonna do a little favor for him
Well I guess everything dies baby that's a fact
But maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Put your hair up nice and set up pretty
and meet me tonight in Atlantic City
Meet me tonight in Atlantic City
Meet me tonight in Atlantic City

(uh uh aaah) Let me put my arms around your head
(dom du aaah) Gee, it's hot, let's go to bed
Don't forget to turn on the light
Don't laugh babe, it'll be alright
(dom du aaah) Pour me out another phone
(dom du aaah) I'll ring and see if your friends are home
Perhaps the strange ones in the dome
Can lend us a book we can read up alone
And try to get it on like once before
When people stared in Jagger's eyes and scored
Like the video films we saw
His name was always Buddy (got got du aaah aah aah)
And he'd shrug and ask to stay
She'd sigh like Twig the Wonder Kid (got got du aaah)
And turn her face away
She's uncertain if she likes him (got got du aaah aah aah)
But she knows she really loves him
It's a crash course for the ravers (got got du aaah)
It's a Drive-in Saturday
Jung the foreman prayed at work (dom du aaah)
Neither hands nor limbs would burst
It's hard enough to keep formation with this fall out saturation
(bah dom bah) Cursing at the Astronette
(dom du aaah) Who stands in steel by his cabinet
He's crashing out with Sylvian
The Bureau Supply for ageing men
With snorting head he gazes to the shore
Once had raged a sea that raged no more
Like the video films we saw
His name was always Buddy (got got du aaah aah aah)
And he'd shrug and ask to stay
She'd sigh like Twig the Wonder Kid (got got du aaah)
And turn her face away
She's uncertain if she likes him (got got du aaah aah aah)
But she knows she really loves him
It's a crash course for the ravers (got got du aaah)
It's a Drive-in Saturday
His name was always Buddy (got got du aaah aah aah)
And he'd shrug and ask to stay
She'd sigh like Twig the Wonder Kid (got got du aaah)
And turn her face away
She's uncertain if she likes him (got got du aaah aah aah)
But she knows she really loves him
It's a crash course for the ravers (got got du aaah)
It's a Drive-in Saturday, yeah, yeah

Bowie - Five Years
Pushing thru the market square, so many mothers sighing
News had just come over, we had five years left to cry in
News guy wept and told us, earth was really dying
Cried so much his face was wet, then I knew he was not lying
I heard telephones, opera house, favourite melodies
I saw boys, toys electric irons and t.v.s
My brain hurt like a warehouse, it had no room to spare
I had to cram so many things to store everything in there
And all the fat-skinny people, and all the tall-short people
And all the nobody people, and all the somebody people
I never thought Id need so many people
A girl my age went off her head, hit some tiny children
If the black hadnt a-pulled her off, I think she would have killed them
A soldier with a broken arm, fixed his stare to the wheels of a cadillac
A cop knelt and kissed the feet of a priest, and a queer threw up at the sight of that
I think I saw you in an ice-cream parlour, drinking milk shakes cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine, dont think
You knew you were in this song
And it was cold and it rained so I felt like an actor
And I thought of ma and I wanted to get back there
Your face, your race, the way that you talk
I kiss you, youre beautiful, I want you to walk
Weve got five years, stuck on my eyes
Five years, what a surprise
Weve got five years, my brain hurts a lot
Five years, thats all weve got
Weve got five years, what a surprise
Five years, stuck on my eyes
Weve got five years, my brain hurts a lot
Five years, thats all weve got
Weve got five years, stuck on my eyes
Five years, what a surprise
Weve got five years, my brain hurts a lot
Five years, thats all weve got
Weve got five years, what a surprise
Weve got five years, stuck on my eyes
Weve got five years, my brain hurts a lot
Five years, thats all weve got
Five years
Five years
Five years
Five years

Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
And you begin to wonder why you came
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

I paid all my dues so I picked up my shoes,
I got up and walked away.
Oh, I was just a boy,
I didn't no how to play.
Worked hard and failed
now all I can say is
I threw it all away.
Oh, I was just a boy
giving it all away...
sail away, sail away,
ooh, I know better now, I know better now
giving it all away
ooh, I know better now, I know better now
I've given it all away...
Went out in the world too much for my nerves
only myself to blame.
oh, I was just a boy
nobody else to blame...
I've done all I can, now it's out of my hands
stand on my head and say
oh, I was just a boy
giving it all away...
sail away, sail away,
ooh, I know better now, I know better now
giving it all away
ooh, I know better now, I know better now
given it all away...

Gee, but it's hard when one lowers one's guard to the vultures
Me, I regard it a tortuous hardship that smoulders
like a peppermint eaten away
(will fight, will i swagger or sway?)
Hee, hee, M'Lady, she cries like a baby to scold us
see her tumbling down, tumbling down
Hail! to the monkey; we're having a funky reunion
Wasted and sunk, he can only have Sunday communion
he got nicotine stains in his eyes
he got nothing to protect but his pride
Oh! smother ihe kiss or be drownded in blissful contusion
(replace with)
Oh! smother the kiss or be drownded in blissful confusion
see it tumbling down, tumbling down
Juvenile tale, (see ihe Titanic sail into Brighton)
The Hemingway stacatto, the tragic bravado can frighten!
to be here, there and everywhere's fine
but do you have to be so swift all the time?
Deliver the Dawn to the Moulin-Rouge on the Horizon
watch it tumbling down, tumbling down
