im twisted and torn
never felt pain like this
since i was born
just want to see you smile
hold you, kiss you , love you
what is my life without you
empty like my past
just open your window in the morning
and hear the sound of my breaking heart
in the darkness
of my lonely room
imagination playing tricks
with my mind
im wondering who youre with
what can i do
to win you back
listen in the crowded room
and hear the sound of my breaking heart
why is it princesses
always break your heart
the ones you love
always depart
where is the light
at the end of the tunnel
or is it darkness forever
lie back in your bed at night
and hear the sound of my breaking heart
a life without love
is a life full of pain
the tears i cry youll never see
i keep my sadness deep inside of me
everybody thinks im fine
that im over you
hear the sound of my breaking heart
take away this hurt
this never ending sadness
just give me a call
help me out of this madness
hear the sound of my breaking heart
hear the sound of my breaking heart
_________________________________________________________________
i wish we could go back
to our youth
the age of innocence
to those dance crazy
amphetamine fuelled
saturdays
spinning and turning
to the latest
northern imports
it was all so easy then
the world was our oyster
then you married
raised a family
moved away
became respectable
but now youre back
where you belong
home again
the hearse departs
and the tears dry
one by one
the stars flicker and die
dont ask how he died
all we need to know
is how he lived
i will remember
goodnight
my friend

Love that poem heid.
Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew her
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah

ok everyone has missed this classic.
If it wasn't for your wellies where would you be
You'd be in the hospital or infirmary
'Cause you would have a dose of the flu or even pleurisy
If you didn't have your feet in your wellies
Oh wellies they are wonderful, oh wellies they are swell
'Cause they keep out the water and they keep in the smell
And when you're sitting in a room you can always tell
When some bugger takes off his wellies
If it wasn't for your wellies where would you be
You'd be in the hospital or infirmary
'Cause you would have a dose of the flu or even pleurisy
If you didn't have your feet in your wellies
Oh and when you're out walking in the country with a bird
And you're strolling over fields just like a farmer's herd
And somebody shouts, "Keep off the grass" and you think how absurd
and SQUELCH you find why farmers all wear wellies
If it wasn't for your wellies where would you be
You'd be in the hospital or infirmary
'Cause you would have a dose of the flu or even pleurisy
If you didn't have your feet in your wellies
There's fishermen and firemen, there's farmers and all
Men out digging ditches and working in the snow
This country it would grind to a halt and not a thing would grow
If it wasn't for the workers in their wellies
If it wasn't for your wellies where would you be
You'd be in the hospital or infirmary
'Cause you would have a dose of the flu or even pleurisy
If you didn't have you're feet in your wellies
Oh Edward, Heath and Wilson they haven't made a hit
So you'd better get your feet in your wellies
If it wasn't for your wellies where would you be
You'd be in the hospital or infirmary
'Cause you would have a dose of the flu or even pleurisy
If you didn't have you're feet in your wellies
Everytime I hear it in my head or on the stereo I just crumple.

A slightly more serious post:
When you walk through the storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of the lark
Walk on, through the wind
Walk on, through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

And also:
"A Boy Named Sue"
My daddy left home when I was three
And he didn't leave much to ma and me
Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze.
Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left, he went and named me "Sue."
Well, he must o' thought that is quite a joke
And it got a lot of laughs from a' lots of folk,
It seems I had to fight my whole life through.
Some gal would giggle and I'd get red
And some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head,
I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named "Sue."
Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean,
My fist got hard and my wits got keen,
I'd roam from town to town to hide my shame.
But I made a vow to the moon and stars
That I'd search the honky-tonks and bars
And kill that man who gave me that awful name.
Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July
And I just hit town and my throat was dry,
I thought I'd stop and have myself a brew.
At an old saloon on a street of mud,
There at a table, dealing stud,
Sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me "Sue."
Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
From a worn-out picture that my mother'd had,
And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye.
He was big and bent and gray and old,
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold
And I said: "My name is 'Sue!' How do you do!
Now your gonna die!!"
Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes
And he went down, but to my surprise,
He come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear.
But I busted a chair right across his teeth
And we crashed through the wall and into the street
Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer.
I tell ya, I've fought tougher men
But I really can't remember when,
He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile.
I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss,
He went for his gun and I pulled mine first,
He stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile.
And he said: "Son, this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
And I knew I wouldn't be there to help ya along.
So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
And it's the name that helped to make you strong."
He said: "Now you just fought one hell of a fight
And I know you hate me, and you got the right
To kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you if you do.
But ya ought to thank me, before I die,
For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye
Cause I'm the son-of-a-bitch that named you "Sue.'"
I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
And I called him my pa, and he called me his son,
And I came away with a different point of view.
And I think about him, now and then,
Every time I try and every time I win,
And if I ever have a son, I think I'm gonna name him
Bill or George! Anything but Sue! I still hate that name!

Wow Rod. It truly is one of the most moving songs.
Ok this is my last post on this thread. This is what I want played at my funeral.
It's aptly named:
"Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)"
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life

For Her;
No matter where I roam
I will come back to my English rose
For no bonds can ever tempt me from she
I've sailed the seven seas,
Flown the whole blue sky.
But I've returned with haste to where my
Love does lie.
No matter where I go I will come back to my English Rose
For nothing can ever tempt me from she.
I've searched the secret mists -
I've climbed the highest peaks
Caught the wild wind home to hear her soft voice speak
To hear her soft voice speak
No matter where I roam
I will return to my English Rose
For no bonds can ever keep me from she.
I've been to ancient worlds
I've scoured the whole universe
And caught the first train home
To be at her side.
No matter where I roam
I will return to my English Rose
For no bonds can ever keep me from she
For the moment and my friends;
Watching the people get lairy . . . . . .

Baby, yes Until the end of time
I'll be there 4 U
U own my heart and mind
I truly adore U If God one day struck me blind
Your beauty I'd still see
Love's 2 weak 2 define
Just what U mean 2 me From the first moment I saw U
Ooh, I knew U where the 1
That night I had 2 call U
I was rappin' till the sun came up
Tellin' U just how fine U look
In a word, U were sex
All of my cool attitude U took
My body was next
U made love 2 me
Like U where afraid
Was U afraid of me?
Was I the first?
Was I your every fantasy? That's why, until the end of time
I'll be there 4 U
U own my heart and mind
I truly adore U If God one day struck me blind
Your beauty I'd still see
Love is 2 weak 2 define
Just what U mean 2 me When we be makin' love
I only hear the sounds
Heavenly angels cryin' up above
Tears of joy pourin' down on us They know we need each other
They know U are my fix
I know, that U know that I ain't cheatin' baby
They know this is serious
I ain't funkin' just 4 kicks No, this condition I got is crucial, crucial baby
U could say that I'm a terminal case
U could burn up my clothes
Smash up my ride Well maybe not the ride... But I got 2 have your face all up in the place
I'd like 2 think that I'm a man of exquisite taste
A hundred percent Italian silk imported Egyptian lace Nothin' baby, I said nothin' baby could compare
2 your lovely face
Do U know what I'm sayin' 2 ya this evening Tryin' tryin' 2 say
Just tryin' 2 say
That until, until the end of time
I'll be there 4 U Be there 4 U On my heart, on my mind
I truly adore U
U don't know what you're mean 2 me
Baby (Until the end of time)
Baby (I'll be there 4 U)
Baby (U own my heart and mind)
Til the end of time I'll be there 4 U (I truly adore U)
Adore U (Adore U) Can I talk 2 U?
Tell U what U mean 2 me
Every time U wander (Until the end of time)
I'll be your eyes so U can see (I'll be there 4 U)
I wanna show U things (U own my heart and mind)
That I show no other, I wanna be (I truely adore U)
More than, more than your mother (If God 1 day struck me blind)
More than your brother (Your beauty I'd still see)
I wanna be, like no, like no other (Love is 2 weak 2 define)
If U need me, I'll never leave (Just what U mean 2 me)
(Until the end of time)
I know, that U know, without U there is no me (I'll be there 4 U)
(U own my heart and mind)
There is no me (I truely adore U)
Without U there is no sea (If God 1 day struck me blind)
There is no shore
Love is 2 weak 2 define how much I adore (Your beauty I'd still see)
U, child
U, child (Love is 2 weak 2 define)
The last words U hear
The last words U hear (Just what U mean 2 me) Until (Until the end of time)
I'll be there for you, baby
(Until the end of time) Be with me darlin' til the end of all time (Until the end of time)
I'll give U my heart
I'll give U my mind
I'll give U my body (Until the end of time)
I'll give U my time (Until the end of time)
(Until the end of time) 4 all time I am with U
U are with me
(Until the end of time)
U are with me
U are with me
a classic !!

On a lighter note, Baron refers to Tenacious D. These two guys are quite extraordinarily mesmeric. Anyone got any background on them? Visually, I could watch them all night. They are funny without trying, a sort of self-parody. Highly recommended.
On a more serious note, what a beautiful thread this is. And a lot of work by all the posters, to include so many lyrics.
These days, on blonde, I no longer make all the decisions, we share them out, probably a good thing, I'm sure you'll agree. But if it were purely my decision, I'd firstly sticky this thread, then, when it had run it's course, I'd add it to Best of Blonde.
I'll begin by stickying it. If you agree it deseves to be in "Best of Blonde", well, let us know.

Not a song lyric but this one gets to me:
stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone
stop the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
silence the pianos and with muffled drum
bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
he was my north, my south, my east and west,
my working week and my sunday rest,
my noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
i thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.
the stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods;
for nothing now can ever coem to any good.

Thank you for the days
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me
I'm thinking of the days
I won't forget a single day believe me
I bless the light
I bless the light that lights on you believe me
And though you're gone
You're with me every single day believe me
Days I'll remember all my life
Days when you can't see wrong from right
You took my life
But then I knew that very soon you'd leave me
But it's alright
Now I'm not frightened of this world believe me
I wish today could be tomorrow
The night is long
It just brings sorrow let it wait
Thank you for the days
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me
I'm thinking of the days
I won't forget a single day believe me
Days I'll remember all my life
Days when you can't see wrong from right
You took my life

This is my fav, everytime i hear it makes me wanna cry
Can You Feel The Love Tonight = Elton John/Tim Rice
There's a calm surrender to the rush of day
When the heat of a rolling wind can be turned away
An enchanted moment, and it sees me through
It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you
And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds
Believe the very best
There's a time for everyone if they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn
There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors
When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours

This is a current song that makes me well up with happy memories every time I hear it
Well, I'm rumblin' in this JCB.
I'm 5 years old and my dad's a giant sitting beside me.
And the engine rattles my bum like berserk
While we're singin, 'Don't forget your shovel if you want to go to work!'
My dad's probably had a bloody hard day
But he's been good fun and bubblin and jokin' away
And the procession of cars stuck behind
are gettin all impatient and angry, but we dont mind.
An' we're holdin up the bypass
oh
Me and my dad havin a top laugh
oh woah
Sittin on the toolbox
oh
And I'm so glad I'm not in school, boss
So glad I'm not in school
Oh no...
And we pull over to let cars past
And pull off again, speedin by the summer green grass
And we're like giants up here in our big yellow digger
Like zoids, or transformers, or maybe even bigger
And I wanna transform into a Tyrannosaurus Rex!
And eat up all the bullies and the teachers and their pets
And I'll tell all my mates that my dad's B.A. Baracus
Only with a JCB and Bruce Lee's nunchuckas
And We're holdin up the bypass
Weh Oh weh oh
Me and my dad havin a top laugh
Weh Oh weh oh
Sittin on the toolbox
Weh Oh weh oh
And I'm so glad I'm not in school, boss
So glad I'm not in school
And we're holdin up the bypass
Weh Oh weh oh
Me and my dad havin a top laugh
Weh Oh weh oh
I'm sittin on the toolbox
Weh Oh weh oh
And I'm so glad I'm not in school, Boss
So glad I'm not in school
-
I Said I'm Luke, I'm five, and my dad's Bruce Lee. Drives me round in his JCB.
