Vintage Champagne

I'm after a bottle of top Chamapgne for my mum and dads wedding anniversary. They're well into their wine (wine fridges, trips to reims etc) so wanted something pretty special. Any wine experts know what the good vintage years were? Also how long before these are ready to drink?

If you are going to buy an expensive wine, buy a good vintage 1er Cru Claret. Its is less likely to have deteriorated over the years.

1990 from any "proper" Champagne cuvee ie Pol Roger, Dom Perignon etc. should be fine.
