I paid £125 last year simply for the guy to come from BT and flick a switch.  Have you seen phone sockets there?

there's a webbie somewhere i think where you can check if the BT line is active. And yes, it's a lot of money if it's not already wired up.

I was told it was £125 whether to flick a switch, or put a whole new line in, makes no difference, could be wrong though...

not sure, I think I paid a bit more than that (£160ish or something), but it was a couple of years ago and my memory isn't what it used to be

If there's no BT line, but there is a cable line, I'm sure BT will be more than happy to wire you up FOC to get your ongoing custom.

dousche - why do you want a BT line specifically?

You can use a virgin phone line for Sky. Doesn't have to be BT. And unless you have multiroom, it only needs to be connected once, at install time. Run a looooong extension lead from a neighbour Smiley.

Sky+ for telly, Virgin for phone and broadband.  That's the winning combo imo.

Get sky to install your phone line and take out sky line rental. I think I paid £60 for the phone installation when I moved house. (it is installed by a BT engineer using BT openworld)

I think sky line rental is a few quid cheaper than BT too;.
