I flat here. Few reasons:

if we 3bet and get 4bet then we pretty much have to fold to this tight player

if we 3bet and get flatted then we're still concerned as a lot of players will flat their big hands in position here. Even if he's not got a big hand and calls for position then we're playing oop in a 3bet flop and are likely to see a flop that we don't like. Obv if we flop a set and he has the overpair then $$$

if we flat it disguises our hand a bit. If we flop a set then great, but we can also play this hand without flopping a set.

Basically, if you 3bet pre then I think you get worse to fd and get 4bet by bigger. Flat call and play some post flop poker.

the single saving grace of flatting is that he looks nervous/confident. Im not mystic meg so i think id rather 3bet now than get utterly schooled with JJ oop to anyone remotely confident with a 8:1 ps ratio.

I think the key word here is 'tight player'.

Can't see much advantage in raising

a) he reraises and you fold
b) he flat calls and you are still not much wiser of his hand
c) he folds a worse hand and you win a few chips

I would call and try to play the flop.

no it's live they suck, they don't understand preflop ofc, they understand even less about post flop. Just call pre.

Fwiw the hh referencing him as the CO can often lead me to make mistakes because I think they realise what position they are in and how wide they should be opening when in all reality it's just an open raise it doesn't matter too much where it's from.
