He's tried to buy it before, purely to shut it down.

and give the bdo another million to invest in grassroots

I'm not sure this is true any longer.

The BDO have not competed with PDC for some years.  The PDC line has changed, they realise that the BDO is the breading ground for the PDC - Taylor will not keep laying the golden egg forever.  All of the main competition for Taylor over the last few years has come from ex BDO players.  The PDC needs the BDO for certain.

Don't know if the "State of" programme Radio 5 did on Darts is still available on IPlayer, but some excellent views expressed on there concerning on why they need each other.
