This next entrant may be one of the nicest, if not THE nicest and most pleasant man I've ever shared a table with. His nickname of 'The Gentleman' is no freak coincidence.

He is literally the consumate professional.

In 1998, he was in the final 7 of the WSOP main event and got it all in 3 way pre flop. Ben had Aces, Jan Lundberg has 1010 and Scotty overcalled the two shoves with AQdd. The flop came Q high with 2 diamonds and the river made Scotty a flush and was probably the hand that made him $1m richer and consequently world champion.

Someone who was standing sweating the table at the time said to me, 'Most people I know would have stormed off or thrown themselves off a building. Ben shook everyone's hand, wished them well and went home'.

Kinda sums him up. I don't expect tons of people to have stories about Ben but since he basically defines legend where poker is concerned he has more than earnt a place ITT.

Excellent choice. The interview below was recorded last week in Vegas.

The may he has mentored the basic disciplines of bankroll management & hourly win rates into his lad impresses, too.

One of my favourite poker people of all time, an absolute gentleman.

Despite being an old man with no hair, this guy is loved by the old and new school of UK poker players.

One of the greatest people I've met in poker and unfortunately I've only ever had the pleasure of Shaun's company about 3 times but I consider him a good friend. I'm sure many many blondes echo these thoughts.

A true gambler, he's earnt his place in this thread. Wp Shaun Conning, aka Claypole.

Known Shaun about 20 years, since the days when I was carting a beer crate around a snooker table whilst playing 'best of 3 for a tenner and the light' Cheesy

Great guy, and definitely a legend!

Poker is running out of legends unfortunately so this thread hasn't been updated in a while but we have a new one today.....

Why is he a legend / comical Dubai stories?

1) Was skimming off the side of a cruise ship around caribbean. Problem is there aren't usually many stones on cruise ships. Np if you're Dubai, just use $100 chips.

2) 'when it comes to online mtts he's the schnizzles' - binked this for $600k. http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=49511.15

3) Wears these (not even as a joke or as a prop he lost with his mrs)...

UGGBOOTS.JPEG

4) My source tells me that Mr Dubai walked into the International the other night at about 5am, wanting to play a 2/5 Omaha game. With no interest he proposes hold em. Still nothing. Dubai now proposes 2/5 hold em, and he'll be paying everyone's blinds! Game fills. Dubai also agrees to pay for a cab home and drinks for anyone he busts.

Anyway, he's the new legend of the thread. Dubai stories please!

I feel like here is the best place to ask about the epic misclick/wcoop win. Anyone feel like answering or perhaps the man himself?

Dont think anyone could ever meet Shaun and not like him. Have played with him once in the 500 deepstack (busted his first bullet with KK<QQ vs me lol). Always has time for a chat, always has time to listen.

Good choice!
