Only 25, a massive shame imo. From the brief spell he had at Norwich, I geniunely believe he was good enough to play for England regularly. It seems only a matter of time from this article and other stuff I have heard until his retirement is official.

Pretty gutted for him. Really wanted to see him play for England. At 25 with modern medicine it's a shock that he will never improve.

This is sick to hear i always thought he was an outstanding striker and so young.

I know he wont need the money but will he get a massive insurance pay off?

i know how the guy feels not being able to follow the carear you wanted too through injury.
but i think his pension/insurance will make it a little easier than it would be for most people

Sad news - very good player when he was fit for a spell - the 2006 FA Cup Final stands out.

In fairness although Ronaldo is a turd sandwich , i dont think many would actually like to see him getting a career ending injury?

There is a god up there...

Arsenal's Robin van Persie is set for a lengthy spell out after suffering suspected ankle ligament damage while playing for the Netherlands.

The 26-year-old striker was stretchered off after 10 minutes of his country's friendly against Italy in Pescara.

Van Persie held his right ankle after a robust tackle by Giorgio Chiellini and was flown to hospital for treatment.
