OK.... Report on the 2nd outing of the new Luton G Thursday night comp...
We have a £40 Comp starting with 4K with unlimited £20 Rbuys each worth 4K more in chips, 2 30 min levels 25 min after that and with lovely antes from 150/300 onwards...This is serious value people and a deep stack is easily obtainable going into the Fout part of the comp..enjoyed last week where i bubbled and have transferred my weekly outing allegiance from Wednesday to Thursday..
My first table comprised of Edna & Dave Johnson and a number of unrecognised young guns...Dave was in every pot early and I wasn't far behind him as we both tried to establish a stack...general plan is to get around 10-12k and lock up a bit take the addon and have circa 16K at 100-200...
Dave kept getting burned, in particular by one guy who refused to give up one pair 6 kicker then one pair 4 kicker to multiple Johnson thunderbolts... i managed to get my stack from a young eastern europeon lad who was a serial raiser/bluffer...he raised around the cutoff and i flat called on the button with 4 4..flop came K 3 2 and he fired..I didn't give him the king and just called not wanting to escalate things just yet..the turn brought a lovely 4 and he fired again...i flatted again now hoping he had a genuine king..the river was kind enough to house me up and i raised his last bullet allin and he felt obliged to call the last 2 K off with Ace high..Many thanks...locked up a bit now i had the stack i wanted only to witness a 4 handed pile up late on that saw 2 nut straights v house v quads...it was messy to say the least with poor edna winking confidently at me as she sailed into the fray with the house.
Shortly after the break got a table move to Snattys left and soon after by the one and only chompy between us...Who says there isn't a god...
I'm getting dealt junk and theres a few stations on the table and I'm in evaluation mode as to who to go after...round the table to my left is Muppet colton and a dear old lady Betty... now I've seen Betty a few times lately..apparently she frequents the £5 rebuy type of comps but she has moved up recently to the high roller stakes of the £50 comps... She is your a typical dear old granny..she has to be circa 75 if shes a day..proper doddery and takes her cards clean off the table and holds them level with her head whilst she squints hard at their surface...
OK target was acquired, Muppetts fairly tight and the two to his left were fairly straight forward...i decided passed to me with Betty on the BB i would initiate the attack sequence..first one got through..lovely...2nd one I jacked it up with 9 10 spades andafter some deliberation..she called, ok no prob i had position and felt her range was fairly polarized...
The flop cam 8 7 5 two diamonds and she checked to me..fair enough missile one was on the pad and i didn't see any reason not to launch...she called..
Hmmm..well that didn't go to plan..the turn was a blank and she checked again...ok i took the free card..maybe i could get a good bluffing card/fill my inside straight hit a pair...anything really i could represent..the rivers an ace...she has another good look at her cards and decides she still doesn't like it and checks again.. the ace felt like a good card to rep here..i think if she hits she bets...i cant see the old dear trap checking me on the river...can you?..
I fire a nice big one..its half her remaining stack..she has a little dodder and calls..i look at snatty and his grin is Cheshire cat size which then contrives to almost tearful glee as Betty turns over QJ for queen high.... I have to confess people my jaw dropped... It was the soul read of the century...those at the table that weren't pissing themselves were as shocked as me....Snatty formulated that she may have thought she had a flush...Nobody can believe she could make that call.. I can't either she must have made a mistake cos if a £5 sunday afternoon player has that kind of reading ability I'm giving up now...
A further two times I crossed swords with Betty...twice more she pwned my soul.. All i have to say is 'beware old dears with easy big blinds'
All this being beaten up by granny's had left me with around 10k when i managed to find KK under the gun..my raise is called by the station and by a sneering snatty and chomps alike... on a very nice K J x brd i lead out and as expected get called by the station..snatty and chompy fold smiling at my attempts to get one through Kings Cross... The turn brings a Jack and the station checks to me.. i take a while trying to look disappointed at the jack..before i check behind..the rivers a blank and Mr station now wants to bet perhaps repping or perhaps actually having a Jack..I'm happy as i move in and once again my opponent feels obliged to call the last few K with 7 7....LOL just horrible...
with my newly acquired stack i get moved to another table soon to be joined by tighty 2 to my left..
Tighty then squeezes a raise and a call with his entire stack ( which is a healthy size)... and gets called by the limper with 7 7... LOL..I'm surprised to see tightys Jacks as we have seen his squeezes rolled out on a number of occasions. the flop brings 3 spades..the boy has the 7 spades and tighty lets out a huge sigh as the inevitable spade hits the turn..but wait its the jack of spades and in true internet style the board pairs on the river to house tighty up ...
He sees a table donk limp under the gun with K 2 o/s and then open shove into 3 callers on a flop of K J 10 2 diamond board.. i have K10, i have tighty and another covered and decide to ship...if they got a draw they can pay the max for it..they fold and i take utg's life savings... Tighty sighs as i go to work mumbling about monsters being created..I run 22k up to 44K..the tables proper passive...then folded to me on the button i decide to throw a curve ball into the mix and open limp on the button with K 2 off...not a recommended play but here we are just doing something different..all I've done is raise and this open limp otb sends shock waves through tightys and draineys blinds..tighty was already eying me with suspicion at this detraction from the onslaught.. they both check and we see a flop of K J x two hearts..they both check and i reasonably fire a bullet just looking to take down another pot...all of a sudden tightys stack comes trundling over the line..its a monstrous re raise like 30K more into a 14k pot, my immediate gut reaction was that he doesn't believe i had anything .
I took a big dwell, running my eye over him. The classic tells of discomfort were all there as well..finally i put him as a disbeliever with a Jack or a draw and made the call, to be shown 3 6 hearts..i held and tighty was gone...
From this point on the table was at my mercy right into the final table and I battered them relentlessly with my stack..
Final table me and snatty both chip daddy's and i have cash game Gino to my left, Gino's a wily old fox, never puts his money in bad and has fed off the dealers game for as long as i can remember...its a rare tourney outing for him..
I start the final fairly tight just getting a feel for their mood..its passive as always.. i start to open up a bit..no ones really interested in taking me and the great wall of 1k chips in front of me on..Folded to him Snatty is fairly active..he raises again on the cutoff and i find AK in the SB and jack his 9k up to 34k..he has a hand obv and a some mind games ensue..I confidently inform him I'm never leaving 34 bags behind and if wants to move in I'm obliging..he wants clarification on my verbal declaration..before he gets it i tell him I'm keeping to my word..we are still 9 handed and he passes AQ
theres a bit of action around the table but a few river outdraws later and still nobodys left the building... Chompy shoves a weak limp into his BB with 7 7 and the nervous young guy finally calls with AQ and the brd sends chompy home all huffy...
A couple more fall by the wayside..snatty gets short stacked and i pull on my raising boots again..blinds are getting high..nobody wants to dance and my 115k is soon 180k...snatty shove 27k at 3-6..i look at A7 with a few people behind me..I'm pretty sure its ahead of the shove and instead of isolating i elect to just call..Gino then wakes up and moves 70K over the line....I'm fucking pissed off with myself and fold...but it looks as if my flat call saved me money as Gino shows AK..he was coming no matter what i did..
The nervous young lad makes some poor plays still limping with a stack of 12BB with hands like 9 9 twice..his punished by the board both times... I continue with the pressure, relentless now four handed..Gino takes 3rd place out and we are hup, i have a slight chip lead but its late and we chop it up ... i could have played on Gino's quite tight and my extra aggression would probably win through but I'm happy at maximum blondey points and over a Bag for sixty quid investment..

I'd just like to say that i've had a really entertaining day at work after finding this thread this morning. I'd obviously heard of Blonde but had no idea there were so many Blondites who play in Luton!
A word about my name, hilariously funny i'm sure you'll agree. Its actually Greg "Symons", but one of the lads who also plays at the G occasionally is called Adam Munson or Muns, and often does exasperating things, hence "Greg Sigh-Muns."
Just another one of those inspired decisions that seems extremely clever at the time. A bit like 3 betting with 89 suited.
Looking forward to attempting to make a late run on your league, and maybe bouncing some hands off a few of you that occur at our fun-house that is the G.
Welcome Greg; wot nites do you normally play at the G?

Last night - after consulting the Cash Guru, Gino - Niall has decided that a (reasonable stakes) ROE table is now a permanent fixture on the plasma screen hanging by (in the) bogs.
No rake, session charge only (£3 per half hour) - just what the 'G cash scene' has been crying out for ....... and a veritable Serengetti Plain for the DC predators to descend upon in times of drought!
I pondered whether Niall could install a ticket only system for the Fri/Sat drunks/restaurant owners/naive/over-optimistic/"never played it" to form an orderly queue, so that their wallets can be ritually emptied in the most efficient manner.
Hopefully Betty won't take a seat, and send 'em all giddy!

One Sunday, Nirvana repeatedly attacked the Sweet Old Lady in his quest for 'easy chips'.
Bless her cottons, she flatted every bet as a hyper Glen - there must be loads of E numbers (or maybe just Es ) in that red wine he quaffs, with gay abandon - tore into her, turning over the stone cold nuts each time (without so much as a hint of a raise) as rest of the players fell off their chairs backwards laughing at a poor old red-faced NervyBanana.
After she had ruthlessly decimated his once proud chipstack, dear old Betty informed one and all of her strategy ..... that she had taken up poker because "you lose your money much slowly than when you play Blackjack!

Wednesdays and Sundays generally, but I will definately give the new Mondays and Thursdays a look before long, and if i'm not busy on Fridays.

I am Greg from Betfair, and luckboxed my way to losing heads up to the biggest nit in the tournament on Weds. Was hit by the rejecting-a-deal curse, the deck started punching me in the stomach as soon as I said i'd prefer to play on hu.
I should be down tonight for the £100, i'm sure those who know me already can introduce me to those who don't. I'm one of those 'young guns' who will never shake off a loose image despite virtually never bluffing.
Edit: It would be nice to get some proper numbers down tonight. Everyone posting on this thread should try and make it down!
