I think a more interesting questions is where do we all put ourselves in the 'list', is it at the top? Or do we realise our limitations and just try and capitalise on the upswings?
i'm sure there are some people at Luton that would put themselves at the top or very near to it, howvever generally it's supposed to be a bit of fun so anyway that does isnt really playing the game....

I suppose i'm trying look at the mentality of players. Personally I think I'm good, but there are certainly more skillfull players (If thats the correct way to describe it) and I try not to be exploitable. I'd have to have a good think over my top 10, but it would be very situational and differ from day to day. Probably easier to say what types of players I don't like playing and if your in those categoies then I think your good/awkward, if that means anything.

Long time no see.
You would be top 3 for me and this is no Bs if you in the regular field along with Tk>
Even Tighty has a fantastic game now and went though a great run few months ago.
Im only basing this on vins comment of weekly players turning up so hope not to have upset or offended anybody, ive already upset the fella from last night for calling him a twerp opppssss!!!

3 for me this month Chompy.....
Hmm where do I rank myself in Luton. Just above half way.
A new twist for you all. Top five people I like to have at my starting table.
1. Danish - She has real belief issues whenever I make a bet
2. MDD - I can normally go in with any two and luck box out on him. No idea why??
3. Tighty - Interesting challenge to see if I can make him laugh out loud in the middle of a hand. He hates doing it.
4. George Kiss - He winds up the rest of the table tighter than a drum. Leads to bad play from somebody
5. Tikay and Michigan Jeff - Just for the banter
Top 5 I don't like having on my starting table which is an underhanded way of saying I rate you
1. Galloway
2. Bradders
3. Johnson
4. Martin
5. Michigan Jeff
As for the rest of you....go get upset

I'm gonna nominate myself for MMPIL (most middling player in Luton). I know I'm not as good as most of the regulars, but prefer playing on a table with any of you/them to the random donks. Given the increase in said random donks lately, I think that rating myself halfway through the average field is probably realistic and accurate.

Sigh - come down to my level Claw - I outdraw everyone after I've had a glass of wine, I bink the nut card on the turn and I no longer get upset when I lose because I know a win will be round the corner somewhere - ahem....
3 for me Chomp this month with 2 HTFDTH cashes.
(How the fuck did that happen)
I have to say my game has come on leaps and bounds since I started using the reverse bet system or whatever it is Alex introduced - has worked a treat.

Hi to all that said hello.
Claire i completley agree with your honesty about youself (between me and you i rate you a lot better than u think!! but dont tell vinnie and chomps)
This year at g i think that is the 2nd comp i have actually won, the last 4-6 months have been ridiculous in bad beats, play etc and my confidence is completely non existent issues with me dads health on top of this hasnt been helping me mentally, confidence etc but thats irrelevent from this debate.
I have been total honest with my self perhaps over rating my game and discipline etc this year and outside of this forum have spoken to several players about hand situations and plays etc, however not to exagerate i beleive my major downfall is i play to much at luton G and have stagnated because i know 99% of players and how they play yet still get the bad call, bad beat scenarios etc.
Going onto snas's remark - excellent suggestion my personal favourite player(SNAS) as he mentally ruins donks and idiots at at table without them seeing the car crash their about to hit and i enjoy SNAS's persoanlity as he is another exceptional player and every time we are on the same table i enjot the night regardless of where i finish.

Try a visit to the Dunstable casino - old stylee play, easier to read opponents - it's a nice change to get some rythmn back into your game and then go back to Luton renewed and refreshed.

I'm reassured not to be in anybodies 'list'... Surely thats where you should want to be, under estimate people at your peril.
I personally think that there isn't much difference between the good and the bad at Luton, the deviation is not big between the 'good' and 'bad', it's just a matter of who is on the upswing. Pick the best player in Luton and I reckon I could pick a play from the 'bad' list who would breakeven/win against them.
Just one for me this month, don't think I'll play any more as up to the home land for a week.
Agree on the 'dont underestimate' thing and also important to not overestimate some people too. I just prefer to think of people I struggle to play against on my list - you would definitely be another one - basically anyone who raises small frequently and is happy to play down the streets makes me feel very uncomfortable
I don't think this necessarily means they are better than a lot of other players at Luton or get better results than players of a different style - a few definitely are though and a few just happen to outplay me on a regular basis.
Agree on the deviation too - someone like Dennis Barnes probably wouldn't make anyones list of players they think are great or even uncomfortable to play against. He does not play to any accepted orthodoxy but his results aint too shabby at all.
Think of myself in the middle 33%, capable of good runs and supreme donking too.

Good post Nirvana, I think Dennis is a good example. He is ‘technically’ horrendous, yet he is dangerous and can run over the average Luton field.
You hit the nail on the head, along with Phil. Our lists probably all differ because we find different people awkward to play against and therefore feel they are good, but to others they may suit their style of play and be classed as bad.
My list of styles that I dislike to play against:
1, Loose, passive & trappy. People who call with a lot and are willing to make moves, they let me fire away and call/check raise me with bottom pair thinking they are bluffing but probably having the best hand. I find it difficult to slow down against them as they are clearly ‘bad’ but often catch me out… Maybe I’m bad and they laugh away when I raise their BB again.
2, Over raisers! I don’t like them always pricing me out, especially as I’m not a 3 bettor so to speak (I think I need to do it more often).
3, Solid decision maker, Galloway and Phil are probably good examples of this. Rarely make mistakes and understand there games inside out. Don’t often find value with these types.
That’s probably it, I know solid decision maker is a wide group but I actually thinks so many people don’t make the correct decisions and the easy ones at that.
Thanks
Ian
