Five points for Tighty's sixth on Monday night, although whether any points should be awarded for finishing behind Dennis Barnes in any tournament will be discussed at the next board meeting.
Still 25 played Tighty?

25 runners, 21 rebuys and all the fossils think that Monday is a success that doesn't need changing.

Thought they were changing it  for May  ?

They were changing it but haven't, perhaps because there are two bank holidays in May, so they have decided to wait until June instead? I can't believe they're keeping it. Shirley not?

Sir Donkalot, regarding the match bet, I can't take your money at evens, it's just wouldn't be cricket. Instead, I think we should go for one of these hilarious fancy dress forfeits that poker players are so keen on.

The winner of the match bet will select an outfit for Sir Donksalot the loser to wear at the New Year's Day 2010 tournament. Deal?

They are in a tough spot.  It is falling on its arse, the numbers don't lie.  Probably the worst value live toruny on the planet atm.  However, mgmt are in a tricky spot, they have had so much vocal opposition from players resistant to change that the new format might well have failed also.  So not sure what their best play is.

I don't care what the format is, if it gets 80 people up there on a Monday night and 2k to the winner, that's the right format.

make sure the outfit doesn't look sporty or they will never get in past reception with it.

Spoke to Niall last night

Numbers had begun to rise again for Mondays so they decided to keep the current comp a while.

Last night numbers, at 25, were 15-20 shy of previous weeks. Sods law.

The Dealers game has decamped elsewhere because of a, ahem, dispute that arose with one of the supervisors, so that will account for a few runners less, as some would play the comp first

Anyway, 25 runners with only 21 rebuys/addons out of a possible 50 last night clearly isn't going to prove attractive. It needs 40 runners spending on av £100 to make it attractive IMO. Like Weds

By the same token opposition to a £20 rebuy is strong and vocal

So I still feel a £75 freeze with a fri structure, now with 6,500 starting chips, is a sensible compromise that would be the answer here. Try getting Niall, so excellent in so many ways, to see this!

Absolute no-brainer imo. Can't see any argument against this.

Unrelated, but......

I was arranging to bring Rich & Mich - Orford & Orpe - to Luton this Thursday, but Orford now tells me that the Cardroom is closed this Thursday. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks.

The "card room is closed" is the new version of "I'm washing my hair".

Orford does not love me? You jest, He idolises me, worships the very ground upon which I walk. Orpey is the same, she's all over me.

So the card room is open after all?

Damn it. In that case...I'm washing my hair.
