Alpe D'Huez
Great for beginners, great nightlife, fairly cheap (well as cheap as skiing gets anyway).
Ive been twice (1st as my first ski trip) - it is a great place to learn - huge green slopes at the bottom of the mountain, and cause the resort is high the snow usually very good at the bottom
There is loads of nightlife for younger crowds

Kitzbuhel in Austria is pretty good IMO, not especially cheap though, but nowhere is really apart from Andorra.

Yer, pretty good night life in Val D'Isere.
Best skiing I ever had was in Cortina/Arabba in Northern Italy on two different trips, really varied skiing.
Planning a trip at the mo, looking cheaper just to book flights first then arrange accoms. Ryanair and flyglobespan have good deals at the mo.
Obv the best skiing/cuisine and nightlife to be found in Aviemore/Cairngorms as Iron pointed out. Came down a really steep run a couple of years back, dead slowly due to strong headwind, dodged a sheep on the way down and crashed when I ran aground in mud. You just can't get that kind of experience on the continent

you have to be kidding
cheap if you get somewhere out of town to stay yes
but then you cant get to the slopes if there is snow and you are
needing taxis for the night life
