What happens if you want to go on holiday for a week? Do you have to train whilst away?

We have 4 holiday weeks per year girgles that have to be booked off in advance

I was typing my previous post before I saw these.

Bit of a coincidence.

As Cos said Girgy we get 4 weeks off.

It has to booked in advance to stop either of us just having a lazy week then taking that as a holiday after the event.

Just got back from arms training.

That's 5 sessions per week, 2 weeks running which I'm really pleased about.

I really feel like I'm fully in to it now. Training is part of my weekly routine and I know how to fit it in around everything else.

I know I've said it a few times but I'm feeling stronger every week and my recovery times are decreasing as well.

I'm starting to notice a little bit of shape slowly coming back as well which is obviously my ultimate goal.

Bring back that 48" chest please!!!

When do you do your abs training  Matt? I don't think I saw them in your schedule?

I don't do any mate.

Might squeeze a bit in some time soon but I really don't see the point when I've got a layer of fat around my waist. You wouldn't see the muscles anyway.

In the old days I'd perhaps do 2 or 3 abs sessions per week but they were only ever 10 minutes before my main training as a warm up as much as anything.

Loads of people over train abs. They're quite a small muscle group and much like arms they get used a lot during other excercise.

I'll probably do a bit before summer though if I plan a holiday Smiley

OK cool, just wondered how much was required as I can't be bothered doing massive Abs sessions

It's just my opinion on it Bold one and I'm sure that someone will disagree.

It always worked for me though.

A good set of abs is much more about losing fat than building muscle.

Gym Session 3 complete.

Was meant to be cardio only but couldn't resist going into the weights room. Did just over a 2km run which is pretty good for me and a bike ride too plus some abs work so pleased.

Then I did biceps.

Protein shake just now and gonna go out tonight for a mates birthday. If I'm not too drunk later will try and watch the UFC.

2st in 3 months is very doable. Good luck with the regime.

Have you got anything specific planned or are you just winging it?

That's exactly my aim, I was 16st 7 when I started last month and 15st 12 last week. I'm not going until June though so have an extra 2 months, best of luck m8!

Nothing particularly specific. Will go back to routine I was doing last year, thats if the fooking useless builder ever gets round to finishing my bathroom off. Not having a bath or shower available at home means it is gym only, which isn't always viable.
I stopped training mid december. Usual stuff bithday, xmas, wedding etc. Then had a tooth pulled, which had some complications, and obvo you can't train when mouth has a gaping hole.

Anyway traing when at the gym will go along the lines of: 3-5k on the rowing machine at a decent pace. Then do about 30 mins of weights.
The 'gym' that I use is only a council run 'fitness suite'. It's only free weights are dumbells up to 20k. Usually do a few sets on shoulders and chest. Occasionally arms too. Will use the weights machines (sigh) for lat pulls and seated rows.
Will then do a run on the treadmill typically 5-8 miles.

At home have a limited set of free weights, but very limited space, so no bench.
Will do a modified 5x5 at home with barbell and increase each set by 5k.

Supps will be fish oils and glucosamine. protein shakes. carb drink after my treadmill run. meh at the cals of these but being able to walk the next day is more important

Take a protein shake not a carb drink
